Just cancelled my subscription to the Rivals site

Greetings. This is only my second post, although I've been lurking regularly for years. I just cancelled my subscription to the Rivals site after reading three articles and suffering through about 15 minutes of a podcast. Very little analytics in the articles. The podcast was terrible. "Ritchie" looks, sounds, and acts like he's about 22 years old. Really, who does a video with a baseball cap pulled down almost over his eyes? They were interviewing Drew Allar. None of them seemd able to complete a sentence without "man' or "hey man". They came across as trying to sound like young hipsters. I'm very glad BWI is still available and am very happy to still have T. Frank, Nate, Ryan, and Dave.

I think wearing a hat - pulled down, backwards, on at all - is not a good/professional look even if we are talking recruiting here.

Anyway - welcome!

BWI vs Nittany Nation will be an interesting "battle" as time goes on. BWI is/was, by far, the most geriatric of subscriber bases of peers. There are still people posting on Rivals asking where the hell Phil went. I'll hazard a guess that it is doubtful many of these folks know how to change a bookmark let alone get around a new site.

But, the "hipster" or "hey man" vibe won't fly with those people either. IMO Nate definitely took a gamble by moving the site here, so we'll have to wait and see if there is a "winner" or two separate, thriving communities.

Your analysis is too deep for me, but I like it. I'm staying here. If we're torpedoed starboard side, I'm going down with the ship.

If you look like this caps, if not , no cap. I'm guessing no cap is good for him.

Went jumbo for you Bob.

Was recently reminded of Erika Eleniak's hotness when she announced on twitter she was in the hospital with Covid related symptoms. This scene in particular ;).

No gentleman does. Wasn't it Bear Bryant who eschewed his trademark hound's-tooth fedora when Bama played in a domed stadium?
Were there any domes around in college football when he coached, or any football at all, for that matter?

Rivals is a joke and that site is a joke. They are still using bwi.rivals.com. If you type pennstate.rivals.com, you will be forwarded to bwi.rivals.com. They can't figure out how to change that and have bwi.rivals.com forward to pennstate.rivals.com for a couple of months. They should not be allowed to use bwi.rivals.com period. They just took the BWI site and changed the name and renamed the McAndrews board. They still have BWI content on the site, for example a hockey article by Eckert. Every article and every thread from BWI staff should have been deleted. Why anybody would go back to that site and use the Nittany Lounge is beyond me? I can see the people that got stuck with Rival memberships because of when their account renewed going to the Lions den (too lazy to change??). Luckily I checked my account a week before my account auto renewed in October and cancelled it. I have always hated Rivals and am so glad BWI is no longer associated with them.

ThePennsyOracle, I would wager any money that there won't be 2 separate thriving communities between BWI and fake BWI. They have probably 8 months to convince the BWI subscribers to stay with them. I am guessing they will lose a lot of BWI subscribers. Who the hell wants to belong to a Penn State site by a Rutgers person? If I had a guess, Nittany Nation subscribers will mostly be recently graduated students. I also don't see them paying for premium content. My niece and nephew used to text me info that BSD text. I would always respond back. I know I read it on BWI about an hour ago. :D Occasionally, they would actually give me information before BWI posted it but you know the saying "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile"

Your first paragraph's statements regarding "still having BWI content" may not be relevant. I don't know current site agreements, but there used to be content sharing agreements between publishers and Rivals, and copyright was held by Rivals.

Yes. Bear retired in 1982. The Astrodome opened in 1965, Silverdome and Superdome both in 1975, They are the three I can think of right off. Don't know if and when Bear coached in any of those though. The Astrodome and Superdome are the more likely candidates.

I can't believe any 'premium' content anywhere is going to convince anyone to pick one site over the other; it's the community. There is way too much competition and desire to be first to make people pay for something that they can get for free in lots of other places (twitter, Instagram, podcasts, etc.). Right now, you can go to twitter and find good PSU information from The Athletic, BWI, Lions247, PennLive, The Collegian, etc. What all are lacking save BWI is the community of users who have been posting for nearly two decades. I'm sure some there may never make it over here, but I think most will. We'll see.

Is that Rutgers guy paying you to undermine our activities on The McAndrew Board? I detect subversion. :)

79 Sugar bowl, Bryant administered one of the many unanswered ***-whoopins to Joe.

Hi dumb question to cancel your subscription, did you have to call a number or could you just do it on the website? Many thanks for your help.

1979 Sugar Bowl against PSU. Paterno asked Bryant where his hat was and got the no hat indoors response.

Happy to help. I did it online. Scroll down to the bottom of the front page and click on Contact Us. This brings up Rivals.com Help Form. Clicking on this takes you to a Yahoo form where you click on Get Started. This brings up yet another page where you click on Contact a Yahoo Specialist, then click Billing. Cancel Subscription link comes up and from there you "chat" {you will actually type imformation) with a representative. He/she will offer free 3 or 4 month extension, which I turned down. They will then cancel and send you a conforming email.

As you can see, it was an ordeal. If someone else knows an easier way, feel free to chime in.

Saw some directions on how to cancel but never got the pages they described. Maybe because I've been paying every month, rather than a subscription? Any help greatly appreciated.
