Just for Debate: If Levis stayed would we have won every game this year?

I don't worry about this sort of speculation either, but his post is hardly deserving of the personal attacks. Seems like too nice of a guy for that sort of stuff.
Agreed on this point… we can have our fun with the topic, but Mr. Potter seems like a really nice guy.

If we stuck with Levis since the Ohio State game where he almost rallied us back and he stayed thru Covid would we have had more wins. He definitely has a better arm and is a better runner. I know some blowhards on the board are going to cry that he left, who cares, Will who? blah blah blah. But he is projected to be a top ten overall draft pick this year and Clifford is not.

I appreciate all Clifford has done but I'm curious for other thoughts.

We wouldn't have won the Michigan game with Josh Allen at QB. We might have won the Ohio State game with Drew Allar playing QB.

Possibly Ohio State but not UM. We just didn't match up well with UM in the trenches.

Don't feel bad asking that question, because no one knows. But dodging the question talks more about the person than just giving their own personal opinion.
For many reasons, Levis would have been better fit for PSU and the way CJF was running his team. Everyone didn't buy it because when Levis got his number called, it didn't appear to be different worlds, but let me take you back one year.
2021 @ Iowa, when Clifford went down, look how the backup QB performed. It was later explained about the reps with 1s being so limited. That being said, swap Clifford for Levis in 1st team reps (and time in position), you probably have an offense that doesn't stall out as much, and that has to do with Levis receiving more respect from defenses due to his ability to run the ball rather than him throwing (which did get better when he went to UK) It must be said that if Levis would have got hurt/injured, PSU would have been in the same spot they were with Clifford, and that has more to do with how they operate their practices/the amount of talent throughout the roster/etc, which I believe in 2022 went through more than slight-less than major adjustments bc a QB change was inevitable after 2022.
But what happened did, and in the PSU fanbase, the popular opinion is the HC & Staff know more than fans (which they should) even when something appears to be obviously wrong, so I understand your "tone" in asking the question.

Duh, the backup qb is always the better play. Don't make LionJim post the mathematical theorem proving it.

Just for Debate: If Devlin replaces Clark at iowa, do we build a dynasty and will several national championships?

o_O

I genuinely believe if MRob had replaced Mills earlier in his career, or Clark had had better grades he would have beaten out Morelli, that wins would have been higher.

I was reading the Mock Drafts and it struck me odd that Levis is listed as a top ten overall and Clifford isn't mentioned as a pick in the first three rounds. I was curious to the thoughts or rationale that the experts have and thought the board would be able to explain.

With that being said I love what Clifford embodies and how he represents our University and Program.

Yeah, except you already brought this topic up back in August. You resuscitated a Jan. 2022 post about Levis potentially being a 1st rounder with a link to an article that suggests some believe him to be a potential #1 overall pick, with this same "jeez, I just ran across this ... aw shucks ... geewillickers ... is it really true? what do you guys think?" attitude. https://www.on3.com/boards/threads/...-in-this-2023-mock-draft.314399/#post-8139476

Why not just say what you're actually thinking?

How about if Levis stayed would he have played? Or would Kentucky win the same number of games?

Understood, but killing time over the weekend I was surfing multiple mock drafts and just couldn't believe that every single one has Levis as a the third best QB behind Young and Stroud. Then I began to think what if he stayed. However, he really turned Ky around and I wondered if Clifford could have done what Levis did at Ky.

PS: I'm an old man and sometimes forget what I post. I'll ask the same question or repeat the same thing often, to colleagues, family and friends, forgetting that I may have addressed the topic yesterday made a statement or asked a question.

If I do it again just ignore me.

It's easy enough for us to simply not open the thread. It's not as if you're trying to ambush us. I feel silly for responding as I did.

No worries. It's just that Pro-Franklin v. anti-Franklin and "who would be the best QB" are 2 topics that are constant sources of irritation and strife around this board (and, really, any PSU board). People just dig in their heels and act like arseholes toward each other regarding these topics, especially.

Levis is so good he would have won every game by himself. He would throw to himself and then run over every DB trying to tackle him. He also would have played D and led the country in sacks and TFL

Ryan Leaf had all the measurables and look how that turned out.

yeah I do like this hypothetical in particular. Look Levis is a tough gutsy QB who was the fall back in Moorhead's last moments when Justin Fields decommitted for GA. Had he had a few years of Moorhead, I might have wanted to see him get a shot. But given that he didn't get that opportunity, and became what he became at PSU with an unfortunate development program, he made the correct decision to migrate to Stoopsucky where 3 stars hope to exceed expectations.

No he would not have played other than mop up. Leaving was his best option.

UK last year (2021 season) would have won about the same with our without him (Bono says). UK had solid running and defense in 2021.

If Potter had 8 more inches he could be a porn star! 🤣

Are we supposed to debate this?

Thomas Wedders was a famous man back during his time in the eighteenth century. He worked with a traveling circus where he showed off his one most impressive feature – his extremely large nose. Wedders was from Yorkshire, UK, and earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records and maintains his record for the longest human nose to this very day.
