I thought for sure that once they got the first down at the one they would take three knees and end up with 710 yards and lose the record

Here's my recap:
  1. That game should have never been played
  2. In the old days we would have taken a knee to run out the clock

The old days are gone. The eye test and MOV matter, even if subconsciously for the committee members. I have no issue with letting the 2nd and 3rd string run with the full playbook to gain valuable game reps. If the opponent's first team defense doesn't like it, they can stop it.

Agree completely. Like it or not, it’s what is necessary today.

Plus, I recall all of the following from the old days:
- Putting up 81 against Cincy in 1991
- Putting up 66 against Temple in 1995
- Indiana-ing ourselves outta the MNC in 1994 with a closer-looking-than-it-shoulda-been score

So I am completely at peace with this.
