give Franklin a wedgie and hang him from a locker, then let Keegan-Michael Key replace him on the sideline and we might get these

#4 is critical. PSU needs to keep someone in the backfield to assist with blitz blocking and Allar needs to learn how to throw a ball away without getting called for grounding.

🤨 what's the latest update on his injury?
At this time, Think going forward without him.
The defense is not going to shutdown ND without a complete roster - i.e. nobody missing. If we are down due to injuries, then we will have be generate a lot of offense to win.

Stop Leonard running, their #1 RB has a bad knee, they don’t scare me passing at all. AK needs to plan up an attack that puts Warren into the mix in a big way in the pass game. ND DBs can’t handle him. Oh yeah, Georgia couldn’t run the ball all year either, but I think we have seen we can.

Special Teams, Special Teams, Special Teams. ND had 2 massive special Teams impact plays last night and they did against IU as well. I think PSU matches up pretty equal to ND so you cannot let them steal possessions or points on Special teams. It's going to be a tight one score game, so don't give any up cheap.

Notre Dame shut Georgia’s run game down but everyone did this year. Notre Dame has been vulnerable to the run. Notre Dame gave up over 190 yards rushing in 4 games this year and over 100 yards rushing in 10 games this year. If you want to compare that to PSU’s rush defense, PSU gave up over 190 yards rushing 0 times and over 100 only 5 times with 2 of those being under 110.

For Penn state they just need to commit to the run, control the clock and game. Notre Dame isn’t big, they are beat up on D and have very little depth right now. PSU should be able to control the line of scrimmage with the run game. Don’t get cute.

On the other side of the ball it is 2 big time strengths, Notre dame rushing offense vs PSU rushing defense. The injury to the speedster Love will hurt ND but QB Leonard is also very dangerous with his legs. ND has some potential on the outside but I think the key for Penn state is keeping Leonard in the pocket and limiting his runs. I expect ND will move the ball in the air more then many of us fans expect them to but that will be by design from PSU to stop NDs strengths.

Notre Dame against the pass is 2nd in college football behind Ohio State on the season but they really haven’t faced any good passing offenses outside of USC who threw for 360 against them. They haven’t faced a threat like Warren outside of that USC game. PSU should be able to throw the ball when needed. Stockton for as little experience as he had and on such a big stage for the first time as a starter moved the ball well at times through the air vs ND.

I think the score will be tight and points will be tough to come by. Score being in the high teens, low 20s seems right. PSU has an excellent chance to get to the finals. If they limit dumb penalties and win turnover battle, PSU should get that Ohio State rematch for all the marbles.

Screen pass counters the aggressive blitzing. Didn't get to watch the game last night to see if Georgia tried any but work on screen passes prior to the game.

Another key to their success. - Also, they need to start fast and make ND play catch up.

I look at it rather simply. Given the relative strengths and weaknesses of ND's offense, I think our defense should be able to keep them from blowing out the score. The question comes down to how well will our offense be able to move the ball and finish drives against their defense, which is very good.

Power running vs. finesse
Attack between the tackles
Hot reads for blitz - make them pay
Quick slants
Deep shot or 2 early

Spy on Leonard
Edge containment
Gap integrity
Make Leonard go to his 2nd read
Tackle Faison
Find the tight end

Be ready for anything on special teams

Stupid penalties have to stop; it’s the easiest thing to correct too. I like our chances in this game - especially if Carter plays.

To me PSU will scheme a similar plan to Boise St. Stop the ND running game (will help if Love is out or limited) and force the QB Leonard to pass. The 1 caveat here is Leonard is quick to pull it down and run if there is an opening so possible a spy on Leonard. ND defense is legit. PSU needs to as usual win the TO battle and limit penalties. If PSU can get out in front the pressure will grow on ND to pass which is not their strong suit. A note as well here as ND obviously has very good special teams as we saw yesterday so PSU better be prepared in that realm as well.

I will add that there should be concern with how often ND blitzes. Our offensive line struggled with Boise State's blitz-happy scheme, but ND blitzes with even better players. Communication on the OL will be vital, and I hope Coach K will include slant routes and screens in the offensive plan this time around to help mitigate the ND pressure.

Exactly how Lane Kiffin handled Manny Diaz's blitzes last night. Lots of slants and several went to the house.

I think #5 is actually a feature of our defense not a flaw. We are really not good at covering receivers no matter the caliber of the opponent. I really hope they can step up their coverage.

Did the ND QB only have 90 yards on 15 completions ??
Leonard kept extending drives. ND took whatever the Georgia defense was giving them. Kudos to ND but Georgia handed them the game. That offsides on the play where the ND punt team raced off the field, unbelievable, ND was a beat from calling the time out and punting.

I hope the Rules Committee bans doing what ND did on the switch-up.
