Sad, unexpected news. Way too young at 41 and with some young kids as well.

This earlier article indicates something serious.

Also from this article:

“During a Cup Series race on May 10 at Watkins Glen, Busch radioed in to his crew requesting medical aid from Dr. Bill Heisel and a "shot" after the race. According to the TV broadcast, Busch had been struggling with a sinus cold that was exacerbated by the intense G-forces and elevation changes at the Upstate New York road course.”

This incident could be unrelated to his passing, of course.

Very sad news. 😢

Just guessing, but viral meningitis or encephalitis could be possible.

A severe bacterial sinus infection could gain access to the brain due to proximity. A brain abscess can then develop and that can be fatal. A subdural empyema also is another possibility that can develop from a severe sinus infection.

Just terrible--so young and had two young kids (I think one under 5)
The cause doesn't really matter but it will be interesting to see what happened that suddenly.

Wow. Scary that a healthy 41 year old went that quickly. Very curious what it was….RIP

This might be a completely uninformed take but sounds similar to how Jim Henson passed.

It seems that this came on suddenly. How does someone get so sick so quickly? Could it be related to the sinus infection that he had recently?

I know a lot people refuse to rest when they're sick but you have to wonder exactly why he was so adamant about racing when he was that ill. Ultimately doesn't matter but it's just one of those things that I think many will ponder.

Yeah, this is the Henson connection for me. Henson refused to see a doctor, kept on working when he was obviously sick and getting sicker. Maybe less the same disease than the same mindset.

I had an eight day hospital stay earlier this year with sepsis. I had rotovitus, epstein barr and two bacterial infections. It all came on very quickly. No one can explain how it all happened at once. The sickest I have ever been. At one point I didn't think I was going to make it.
