I don't know how to post a link, but your article is wrong. The games are on ESPN2. The game vs Auburn is in Starkville, and NOT AT Auburn!

It will be nice to drop into my soft leather with a cold beverage, cool comfort AC flowing, and the dogs on in HD for 2 of the first 3!

Thanks, LT.

They actually had a good shot at booking pearl jam last year but due to the tradition of MSU and never doing anything right, they decided it would be better to get an act that was geared towards the white crowd (country music concert=boring) and getting an act that was geared toward the balck crowd ( rap=crap). The reason I say they had a good chance at getting them is not because we were in contact with pearl jam, its just that the funds were there to get ONE big act instead of trying to be politicly correct.

Not saying this is gonna happen but if somebody with half a brain is planning BB then it should be no problem to get one big act ie. pearl jam instead of going for two smaller acts.

A. pearl jam doesn't play the south except the far east coast.

B. MS is a red state

C. if any of you believe that BB goes from Edwin McCain to PJ, then you need to seek help.

D. Ya'll are probably confusing almost booking PJ with almost booking someone such as Collective Soul, which is right up BB's alley.

So it's not always a pre-SEC Saturday. Which it should definitely always be. Bulldog Bash should get people fired up for a big SEC football game the next day, not an "Oh my God, I hope we don't lose to this 1-AA (er, D-1 FCS) team tomorrow" type game. But hopefully the days of wondering if we will actually defeat the G-W's and the SE Louisiana's of the world are coming to an end.

years ago in New Orleans and then turned around and saw them in Memphis the next weekend. I didnt mean that we literaly almost got them, just that they cost about 70 grand to book if im not mistaken, and BB has about 100+k to work with. But when you have to be so politicaly correct these days and get bands that suit one race, instead of getting one band that would appeal to all types, you drastically cut into who you can get.
You would still have the smaller bands to play, because lets face it, its much more appealing to open for a big name band that it is to open for randy travis. You have Santa Fe right down the road in Philly that would love to play this kinda scene and are cheap. And since they are local would get a good crowd as well. Its just a no brainer in my opinion.

to book one big name from a major genre and then alternate the genre's every year.

For example Pearl Jam and then a smaller name country person, and a smaller name hip-hop person.

Next year Snoop and smaller name rock, etc.

That was before the 2004 Presidential elections.

Before the start of their 2006 World Tour, Vedder and Ament commented that they weren't playing the South because they don't sell out the arenas. In fact, you can look at that tour here. You'll notice the closest they come is Indiana.

I've seen them in before in Memphis, Atlanta, Little Rock, etc. but I'm relaying their public statements regarding sticking to places their very popular - Northeast, West Coast. Hopefully they play a full southern tour after their new album and don't count Bonnaroo as far enough into the southern heartland.

Mainly however, I was calling shenanigans on the guy who said they were close to booking PJ last year for BB. They played one US date last year - headlining Lollapalooza. Somehow I don't think they were trying to fit Starkville into that schedule.

Thank you ESPN, Raycom, CBS, whoever. I also noticed our game with Southeastern will kick off at 6 pm. The first two homegames of the season will start at 6, and one of them was purely our own decision.

Pearl Jam is headlining Bonnarroo this year, there is no way MSU Music Makers Productions could pull that off. If they were however, I would be purchasing a plane ticket right now. Here's to hopin'...

LT and his lack of outside the box thinking sheep have already implemented this for the upcoming season. God knows it's freezing cold at 6:00 after October 1st. and we don't want our old fans to die of hypothermia.

I have been told this will change in 2009.

I see no reason why games not on TV shouldn't start at 4:00. Hell, LSU's old fans can deal with games starting at 7:00. Of course most of their old fans are pickled by that time.

All start times are TBA until 10 days or so before game day. Seems to me it would be easy enough for Byrne to just announce a 6:00 start time for any October games that aren't televised if he wanted to.

That said, I don't have a big the problem with a 1:30 start time anyway. I do see though that there are some fans who love night games and hate day games and some that are the opposite. Seems to me a compromise would be to start Sept. games at 7:00, Oct. games at 4:00, and Nov. games at 1:00.

The Rolling Stones wanted to play at Scott Field, but LT and crew said no way because it would mess up the irrigation system under the field? Never mind that they were guaranteed at least $1,000,000 payday from it. We ain't messing up our football field.

AA - also heard that The Hump turned away WWF RAW back when it was good
