He was to be the centerpiece of the 2026 class.

Not only have we not landed a notable recruit recently, we now lose one of our biggest ones.

This is why I put zero stock in such long-term commits.

I also don't get excited about a kid who commits in August 2023 for 2026, and remember you basically predicting this when he committed.

But as such I don't get excited when they decocmmit, it was expected.

Yeah, can't say it's shocking, but when we are desperately looking for some good news on the recruiting trail, this isn't what you want.

In this day and age, I don't even see the value in taking commitments that early. They have such a low likelihood of sticking.

I have a hard time getting excited for a 2026 commitment, so a 2026 decommitment doesn't bother me either. This kid is starting his junior year now? So much can happen between now and 2026.

The thing that gets me, is every top 25 school is going to take at least 1 qb every year, where does he think he is going to go where there isn't a room full of highly recruited qb's! And I would consider us a mid-tier qb school!

I'm pretty much losing excitement for all of recruiting in general...... We are 3*-U here of late, and that's *nothing* to be excited about. I don't get hopes up for anyone who actually inks a LOI to return the following year. It's just a complete cluster right now - USC FB and all of CFB.

And even if we do reel in a 5 star or 3, the chances of them sticking out 3 or 4 years is next to none. Recruiting loses a lot of luster when the players can leave whenever they want.

In response to Duckworth's de-commitment, we sent an offer out to Noah Grubbs, 4* out of Florida currently committed to ND. He has offers from all the big schools, so I seriously doubt he's interested in being our Plan B.

Who would want to come here with all this negativity. Which one of you ever thought the Denver Nuggets would be champion of the NBA or about 25 years ago thought that the Gamecocks women would be the envy of women basketball, l sure didn't but it happened. That why l can continue to hope that the Gamecocks will one day be champion of college football as well. We will get players who are good enough to get us there, maybe not this decade but it will happen eventually. So l am saying we got a chance that's all we need, Go Gamecocks!!!!!😎😎😎

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that point Is it possible, remotely, but sure it's possible. However, there is nothing to indicate there is some semblance of a foundation, or the slightest indication that a NC is remotely possible.

So we've moved from "wait til next year" to "wait til the next decade"? haha

Of course, we got the usual "South Carolina is definitely not out of it" boilerplate

We would have an all-time HOF college roster if we had landed 2% of the 5* guys who had us in their final group.
And, we would be greatest NCAA dynasty in FB, MBB and BB if it weren't for the refs/umps always missing or making bad calls against us. ( This is sarcasm )

While this may not apply to all decommitments, they usually:
  1. Express appreciation and love for the coaches and fans.
  2. Give thanks to God.
  3. State your need to do what is best for you and your family.
  4. Ask jilted fans to respect your decision.
I am amazed by the large number of godly men who coach or play football.
