We did this event for the Carrie Underwood show last month. It was $100 per person. We eat in the founders room prior to every bball game where this is held. Food was good as was booze. They had girls from Pure Cane Sugar playing while your ate. You get to park in the Founders lot, which is nice. Not sure $150 is a reasonable price point.

We will be at Bruce too. Having a preconcert party at our house so not considering this.

The same pre concert experience at Bethel Woods costs $35 and you get a drink, parking, premium toilets, open air lounges and food selections. Bethel Woods holds the same number of people as BJC for a
Concert, so it’s way over priced. Plus Bethel Woods is a nicer venue to see a show in.

Maybe to see Grace Potter but not Springsteen. Premium talent demands premium prices.

That is for every show at Bethel Woods regardless of who it is and Grace Potter is not in the outdoor arena but in a small inside theater, the Event Gallery,
in the museum. Do some research first

I did. And there is nobody playing Bethel Woods — indoor or out — that demands the price that Springsteen does. Just a fact of the market. It doesn’t make your statement wrong, just different market dynamics.

Seems worth it.

As an aside, this weekend was my niece’s birthday and my parents got her Taylor Swift tickets. They tried to buy them when they first went on sale but I guess the system crashed or whatever and they thought they wouldn’t be able to get them. Mom tells me she received an email from the ticket company asking if she wanted to try again. There were no guarantees, but she ended up getting two very good tickets for Heinz Field for face value. Very happy for my niece! Made her year.

Are they getting her the “Premium Primanti Bros” package. $550/person gets you a large sandwich, a bottle of Heinz ketchup and a ride on the Gravity rail! 😂😂😂

No objection to the idea, but the price point is a bit stiff. Then again, the tickets for this particular were and are stratospherically high for this area. (And for comparison's sake, the Pegula buffet is $30 for walkups. Not anywhere near the quality of this proposal.

Went to Journey/Toto last Fiday at BJC and their outside idiocy was enough to shake my head at. Why they don't employ line captains or someone to maintain entry lines is insane, IMO. I arrived and Gate A was split into three single file lines, despite the fact that there were more security checkpoints available and were going unused. (And, I've worked the BJC gates in the past. Nothing ever changes.) People were standing in the rain for far longer than necessary. I grabbed the wife and walked right up to the door and used the security checkpoint that was manned and unused. Needless to say, as soon as we walked up, plenty of wet fans followed our lead.

Quit the bit*hin and moaning. Every university worth a speck holds these events. Maybe you can try the Rutgers site if PSU bugs you so much. Give it a try and you'll be back in 15 mins.

So you want to shell out an extra
$150/person in addition to the ticket price? Go right ahead. The point being it doesn’t need to be $150, in fact if it was less, more folks would do it. By the way what section are you sitting in?

Just pay up or shut up.

If you don’t like the price point, grab a hoagie and a six-pack pre concert.

Premium acts ( especially those on their farewell tour) command premium experiences 🤷🏼‍♂️

Interesting.
We got to the BJC not too long after the posted "gates open" time last Friday, and waited for 45 minutes in the rain. (I was thinking it was a hint of the 2nd day of Woodstock!) We were too far back to realize that all the entrance lines were not being used, and did not figure it out until we were closer to the door. We started in the Gate B line and were encouraged to go to Gate C, and were halfway down the hill by the time we got there. In the end, no harm, no foul.

We are going to see Bruce on the 18th, so we will be more aware, and probably arrive a bit earlier, too. Here's to no rain. Not doing the premium package, and was not even aware of such an option for the many other concerts we have attended at BJC. I felt the $150 cost was high when I saw the email, so glad to see others feel that way as well. I may have sprung for it just to experience it had it been even $100 rather than $150. As @rudedude alluded to, sometimes you can maximize revenue through volume rather than cost per. They missed out on $200 from me because they asked for $300.

I'm sure both they and us will survive and quickly recover from that miss, and I know we will greatly enjoy seeing Bruce again regardless.

Yes, let’s hope the weather for Bruce is good as that could be a cluster. They didn’t send anyone out to redirect people to open lines? That’s weird.

They sent people to other Gates, but didn't indicate that there were lines not being utilized as intended. I think they needed more help at the front of the lines to shuffle people to the underused lines. People were generally being polite and not risking cutting in, I think, as the word never trickled back that there was a faster way to get in via more lines.

Toto/Journey was pretty packed, only closed sections were behind the stage. So even though Bruce may have more in attendance, I don't think it will be by a huge number, unless they open those sections. We sat behind the stage one time for Bruce a few years back, and enjoyed that different experience. Not that I'd choose that again, but it was an interesting perspective.
