She's everything you want to represent your team and your institution. Not only was she the most dominant player in women's basketball this year, she is a humble and caring individual. If you haven't read her story, she overcame a lot of pain, self doubt, and severe mental health issues on the way to being the National Player of the Year and MVP on this year's national championship team. Good for her. I hope she kills it in the WNBA.

I did't watch much of that rugby match yesterday. One of the most physical games I've ever seen. I did see Bett's shove her defender several feet with her arms fully extended at the top of the key, no call. Twice she came down hard on a block, took the USC player out, no call. FWIW, Carolina was bad if not worse.

It doesn't take much. Basketball, both men's and women's, is outta control. The ridiculous use of physical strength and simple assault is ruining the game. Look at YouTube and watch games from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. The difference may be shocking to many of you. Most players were long and lean, and defense was played with the feet, not with wrestling moves, football blocks, and rugby scrums. Of course, there were no weight training staffs and no weight rooms back then either.

This bullshitt that basketball players need to get into the weight room to develop big, bulging muscles so they can bulldoze opponents is garbage. Hell, if ya wanna play like that, get out there on the rugby pitch or the football field. But basketball should rely on quickness, speed, and finesse, not brute strength. And for most of the sport's history, it did. You can see it for yourself.

You are a smartazz. Watched a little more than a quarter, enough to make an opinion that it wasn't my brand of basketball, satisfied. Did you watch any of the game or are you just a **** disturber?

So college bb teams didn’t have weight training staffs or weight rooms in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s?

That claim is laughable.

Somehow I've always pictured you as someone disoriented and bewildered.
Not going to deny that!

The image was in reaction to your first two sentences. I didn't watch much of the match .... One of the most physical games I've ever seen. You often say you've watched a game you didn't watch much of?

What you said is all correct. It's become a full contact sport. Backing in, hand checking and mouth pieces never were in the design of the game.
Street ball is never what was intended. Becoming difficult to watch. I don't know how refs know what to call as a foul with all the contact.

Carver opened in 1983 and had a full weight room next to the Men’s Basketball locker room. If I’m remembering correctly I believe Vivian Stringer’s husband Bill was her strength and conditioning coach.

I think the problem is officials worry too much that calling fouls isn't going to deter certain behaviors and styles of play, which is a big part of what rules are SUPPOSE to do..............

In reality, they just needed to be more steadfast in, ya know, *checks notes on the job description for sports officials and umpires*................ENFORCING THE GOTDAM RULES OF THE F***ING GAME.
