<font color="#FF0000">During Thursday's interview, Leach said he believed money was a motivating factor in his dismissal.

"Last year, they didn't want to pay the money [in contract negotiations]. Based on popular opinion and public pressure and things like that, they got in a position where, to save face, they had to give me a competitive contract, which they did," he said. "Then I think, whether it's for financial reasons or what, they decided not to follow through. Now essentially they're trying to steal the money."

Ok.....So Leach is telling us that TT is not firing him because they think he did something wrong, but that he's not worth the money. TT only gave him the money to save face.

Mike, brother, they want you gone because you are and insufferable *** and there are other coaches that are as good and dont request contract extensions after getting the hell beaten out of them in a bowl game.

The James kid thing is just an excuse to get your obnoxious *** gone.

Shut up and leave already before you say something that costs you a nice contract at another school.

Agreed but Leach is saying they are gonna file suit against the school and he may have a case. We know it was an excuse to fire him but it may turn out to be a false excuse so tech could end up paying him his money they were trying to save anyway.

He doesn't have a chance in hell at the $800K bonus he would have gotten if he'd still been the coach today.

exactly what is literally true. That they fired him for not taking the fall in a potential lawsuit, not that they didnt want to pay him money.

Of course, we are talking about a meathead player, father, coach and school. These arent the greatest modern minds. TT told him to apologize so that the good ole lawsuit might fall directly on the coach. Not sure what the James family was after except for what they got.....Leach's head.....and Leach wants to portray the college as cheap and the kid as a whimp.

Looks like they'll all get what they want.

Leach will end up with a pretty good job in the end. He's been on the national stage for too long and this will be forgotten in time.

I hate that any of the 3 parties in this would come out on top.

Seems like I read there is a clause in his contract that only allows his termination ten days after notification. In short, I think he does get the 800K bonus.

It's pretty nice as far as storage rooms go. It has an exhaust fan, ice machine, all in all not a bad place. If i was a lazy *** player and I got sent to this place I wouldn't even give it a second thought. It isn't Abu Ghraib or anything. I would guess most parents here have done far worse to their kids in a "time out". I think it is obvious this has nothing to do with how the James kid was treated, they are just using this thinking the Mangino thing will give them cover. I'd almost be willing to bet this came as a complete surprise to Craig James as well. I would imagine he was just doing some bitching to the Athletic Department and never expected it t go this far.

I am sure questions are being asked as to why he did not recommend or refuse to put him in the garage, so he is calling it a sports medicine garage. Is it sports medicine because it has a John Deere gator in it or something?

and put a towel over them they could sorta look like a training table! I bet wherever Leach goes next the storage shed is officially labeled as the "Sport Medicine Garage".

had an attorney on yesterday...I was flipping between several and don't remember which one, but he said that since Leach was a employee of Texas Tech, he was an a employee of the state of Texas and afforded some protections as such. Basically he said that if TT tried to fire Leach with cause, i.e. to avoid paying him, there would be a series of formalities to go through, and that from what he can tell, none of those were accomplished.

I think Leach gets the 800k, the full 400k/yr severance, and a large chunk of public money to go with it.

17 heads at ESPN should be fired for using media for personal use.

Leach was tried by ESPN and convicted. Heads should roll.

As said before, the reason he was fired had nothing to do with Craig James son, TT wanted him out and this was just their excuse.

fired Leach but James and his buddies using the available media to present one side of the issue should not be acceptable to anyone. The James' to me seem to be a bunch of AH's.
