I saw an article that listed teams that have never played each other, and further saw lists of teams that Ohio State, Michigan, MSU have never played but couldn’t find a list for PSU.

Made me curious as to how many current FBS teams PSU has yet to play. Anyone ever see such a list?

Wish it were true about VT, but no go.
Having one son PSU grad, the other VT, would have made for some fun…

Lots of options for Kraft to pursue. Home and home with Louisiana-Monroe would be boss. South Alabama, Troy. Killer.

Is VT back on the schedule? I know they talked about a "one off" game with PSU after the H/H was cancelled, but did not see anyting confirming same.

The only ones that seem interesting on that list besides the upcoming opponents (mainly VT and Marshall out of that group) are the ones from Power 5 schools and Boise St.

A mid-November game at Hawaii might be nice. Swap out UMass, maybe?! - Hawaii here that year, at Hawaii in a later season? Great tune-up for the Rutgres-Mich. State home stretch.

I don't see Boise as being that attractive of an opponent - they are not what they were under Harsin on Petersen (although they could still be good).

Contributing to who they did not play by showing who they did play. This is thru the 2017 season and is from the 2018 Football Yearbook:

I know the Ivy League isn't FBS level. But they must really be powerhouses. I see PSU is 0-5 vs Princeton and 0-7 vs Yale.
ND is also 0-1 vs Yale ... back when Rockne was a player (score 28-0 too).

Playing at Hawaii allows for an extra game too…I’ve been a proponent of a home and home with Hawaii for a while.

and 0-2 against Columbia, 0-3-2 against Harvard, 1-2 against Dartmouth, and a few wins (but losing records) against Cornell and Penn.

PSU vs Prcinetson. We have never scored against them. Ever.

well a few things, while Marshall is on future PSU schedules, which I believe will change, they are no longer in cUSA, they are now in the SunBelt. And yes they have played. PSU and MU have played in the past as noted in @PSU73 note, as recently as 1929, which I am surprised you dont remember that game!! LOL

I’ve seen this site before. Going from memory, I don’t believe the record shown vs. Pitt is correct. I’ll verify later.

I hadn’t realized might have to question what they present as factual.

The last time PSU played Princeton, the Tigers won 26-0. We owe them big time. It was 122 years ago but I'm still bitter. Revenge served cold and all that. And all five games were played at Princeton. We deserve a return trip.

Fun fact - all five losses to Princeton were shutouts.

ND - 0

If Notre Dame didn't play a cherry-picked cupcake schedule, with two of the Service Academies, and if they played a conference championship game, they wouldn't have even sniffed the playoffs. Although....it sure was fun to watch them get get curb-stomped by real football teams.

Didn't one of their playoff appearances come after playing in a conference championship game?

I believe that both the Sports Reference and the Penn State football yearbooks have mistakes regarding Dickinson & Dickinson Seminary which is now known as Lycoming. While Dickinson Seminary was a prep school for Dickinson College, it fielded its own separate football team. Sports Reference combines them as one, and I believe that the PSU football yearbook credits too many games to Dickinson with only two games to Dickinson Seminary. Years ago I dug into the Libraries Special Collections regarding this because the 1897 game against Dickinson Seminary was played in my hometown of Sunbury. I know that Penn State played several times (I don’t remember the exact number, but more than the two games that the PSU yearbook states) in Williamsport against Dickinson Seminary, NOT Dickinson College.

I'm probably about as big a Notre Dame hater as there is - not as much as when we were both independents, mind you, but even I'll admit that Notre Dame is at a disadvantage relative to the top teams since they don't have the admissions leeway they used to have. It will be interesting to see what happens with Brian Kelly at LSU. He's kind of a jerk and has trouble taking responsibility for his failures, but I think he's a pretty good coach (football-wise, not necessarily as a molder of men) and reached his ceiling there under the current administration. If LSU gets to the playoff and gets curb-stomped then it will all be on Kelly. If Notre Dame makes the playoff under the new guy and manages to not get embarrassed that will also be on Kelly. I expect Notre Dame to fall back to what they were before Kelly arrived and LSU to be in the SEC hunt soon.
