What show you’ve seen this year that you really liked?

For me, Sierra Hull at The Basement East in Nashville was excellent.

What concert are you looking forward to this year?

Sturgill Simpson at Brandon Amphitheater is at the top of my list.

If you’ve not been to a gig lately, what’s the best one you’ve enjoyed?

Enjoyed Nickel Creek back in April. I had forgotten how good they were.

Seeing Billy Joel for the first time at Busch Stadium in the fall. I'm also looking forward to seeing Sturgill Simpson in Huntsville.

Coral Reefers are doing their tribute to Buffett at The Wharf in OBA in a couple of weeks. I am curious to see what, if any guests show and if the tailgate /party vibe survived his passing.

I saw Jason Isbell at The Factory (fka The Bomb Factory) in Dallas a little while back. It was the first 'concert' I've been to since I saw Rick James, Teena Marie, and Morris Day & The Time at Fair Park in like 2004. It was alright, but I don't think I've ever gotten the appeal of concerts. I mean... we what? Just stare at the stage and just kinda clap and sing along?

Saw Avett at Red Rocks a couple weeks ago. First time at Red Rocks and was impressed. Been wanting to go out there for a show for a while. It was night one of their 3-night stay. Great crowd, cold beer, smelled great, and it was 53 degrees by the end of the show. Headed to Birmingham to see The Head and the Heart in a few weeks.

I can't wait to see Sturgill (or should I say Johnny Blue Skies) in Brandon.

The wife and I went to see Ryan Bingham at Red Rocks few weeks back. It was our first time at Red Rocks and we were blown away. Everyone should see a concert there by far the best venue I have ever experienced.

Went to Jazz Fest (2 days) for the first time in many years, and might not miss it again (although the crowd did suck):
Panic
Beach Boys
Chris Stapleton
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Robert Cray
Big Freedia (just google it)
Gospel tent - San Antonio Church Choir
International Stage
Wild Tchoupitoulas

Panic in Memphis was awesome

Headed to Dead at the Sphere next Thursday

OH WAIT! I just thought of one. I saw Rachel Bloom at The Majestic in downtown Dallas like 5 years ago. It was more of a comedy show than a concert though. It was really good!

I only went to one concert to this point this year. Hairball. They are good for a knockoff band.

Hoping to get tix for Postmodern Jukebox coming in a couple of months.

Last concert I was at was October 2019, cheap trick opened for zztop. Always up to see CT.

Had the chance to go to u2 at the sphere last year, but the ticket price made me physically ill, so they remain on my bucket list with the thought that I'll never get to see them.

The "one that blew me away" was the Red Clay Strays. Just a damn killer show.

Also saw the Killers for the first time in 10 years or so and they really command a show really well.

Went with some friends to see Bruno Mars while in Vegas for work. Bought tickets last minute and I wasnt really looking forward to it but my wife wanted to go. Holy hell was I wrong. That dude is an incredible showman and his full band is incredible too. I highly recommend him even if hes not your thing.

Lastly,
Went to Bourbon and Beyond with friends last year in Louisville. I generally am disenchanted with festivals of that size but it really is a damn good festival and has great bands. Probably not going back but if you're looking for something like that, I highly recommend it.

Flaming Lips at Avondale in Birmingham was awesome. Everybody needs to see them if you have a chance. Slowdive was also awesome. Nation of Language was amazing. They're a current band, but they sound like 80s new wave.

I'm looking forward to seeing Violent Femmes, Khruangbin, Primus, Strfkr, and Washed Out later this summer/ fall.

I think you must have been following me. I saw the same. Big freedia is always fun. Duffy Duffy Duffy Duffy! We hung out with a few PGA players and their wives and caddies that missed the cut at the Big Freedia show. Panic was great. Beach Boys ere awesome. Christ Stapleton was too packed for me. But i had a blast at the Revivalists.

Freedia was awesome. We didn’t hang long at Stapleton at all. Way too packed.

I saw Journey and Toto earlier this year in Biloxi. Luckily it was at the beginning of the tour and Arnel's voice was great. Recently saw a video of one of their concerts and he is struggling.

Planning to see Bonnamassa at Thalia Mara in August, Creed in September and Dwight Yoakum in October.

Live is a really good live band.
Boomer Hijack Alert. Growing up a Delta Blues, Stones, Zep, Beatles & Elvis fan I was skeptical bout "new* music till a younger dude turned me on to Live and was blown away by "Lightning Strikes" back in the early 90's. Do they still tour? Some of the best I've seen who sounded even better than their records were the Eagles and I've never been a huge fan outside a few songs like Hotel CA, Take it to the Limit, & New Kid in Town. Allman Bros at Mud Island was incredible. Wings at the Liberty Bowl, Page / Plant, Clapton, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Seger at the Pyramid were all excellent. Saw Chuck Berry & SRV at Memphis in May.

Favorite: either second night of Billy strings in Nashville
Completely blanked and forgot Billy's set at Bourbon and Beyond. He was a monster and also came on stage and performed with a few other artists as well, including Brandi Carlile.
He brought up Michael Cleveland (who had an incredible show of his own btw) for a few songs and that was awesome too.

Other really notable performances of that festival although I missed Sunday:

Killers - incredible
Brandi Carlile
Gaslight Anthem
Avett Brothers
Old Crow Medicine Show - havent seen them in 10 years or so either. man do they pack a punch....
Black Crowes
Hozier - shocked me like crazy. All of his recorded stuff is so slow, i had low expectations. Dude was electrifying.
Midland
Joy Oladukun -didnt know her berfore
Town Mountain

Big Head Todd and the Monsters with The Wallflowers opening at Red Rocks June 6 of this year. The best concert I have ever been to at the best concert venue I've ever been too. I'm still stoked about it and already planning my return trip next June.
