I hear a lot of comparison between London and Journey. Has anyone seen both play to compare? from a track standpoint it does not look like London is anywhere close to Journey's performance, and not sure if they were competing in different levels of PA football and track. Size - I see London 5'10" - 5'11' and 180 -190# - so I think that was similar to Journey in HS. London does appear to pull away when he gets to the next level.

I've seen London play in HS and I see him around town. I've seen Journey play at PSU. London will have to spend quite a bit of time in the weight room to end up where Journey was when his career was cut short. Journey was an athletic freak and I don't think that's taught or developed.

Seriously? You’re comparing a 17 yr old in high school to a 21 ur old in college and the difference is strength and conditioning? SMH

Journey was decidedly faster, about .5 seconds, in the 100 meters and maybe a little bit bigger than London in HS, but the most impressive element of Journey’s character was his work ethic. He built himself into a worthy successor to Saquon and Miles and might be the fastest back we have ever had. He was on his way to a pro career when he had to give it up for health reasons. If London has Journey’s determination he will be a great addition.

Here’s a translation of what Jam was saying: JBrown was one of the greatest combinations of pure speed and strength that we’ve ever seen, or likely ever will see. The OP said that speed wise Montgomery doesn’t seem to match Brown. Speaking for myself, I think it’s pretty presumptuous to go around comparing a not-even-a-freshman to Journey Brown. Right now it’s probably better to compare London to Nick Singleton and see where this takes us.

Thank you Jim.
My OP was simply comparing them at this point in their HS careers, and who may have seen both at that point in their careers. London has another season of HS FB left, so I was thinking how do they compare as they are going into their SR seasons. The reason I brought it up is that there are people using JB's name when discussing London. Track times are quite a bit different, at least from what I see. JB really developed for sure, and if he got the ball to the second level seemed pure HR back.

Please don't take this as me being a d!ck but you're looking for a guy that watched HS Journey in Erie and London in Scranton? There's probably less than 15 people on this planet that did that and they're either college coaches or On3/247/Rivals employees. Remember, Journey didn't have a lot of big schools calling. https://www.on3.com/db/journey-brown-68277/recruiting/

I think the primary comparison from the 2 is both are/were PA kids who were undervalued to start with. LM has since been bumped up, but JB was mostly considered a plan B recruit after we missed on one or two others. Until the second half of '19, he wasn't even the JB we greatly missed carrying the rock in '20.

My two greatest heartbreaks as far as injuries are concerned are Brown and Aaron Harris, which is maybe why I’m a little prickly in this thread.
My sister was at Penn State for some of the Aaron Harris years and she actually knew him from a class or two. She said he was an incredibly nice and humble guy. So I’m especially with you on the heartbreak of his injury.

Yeah, I’m not quite sure what the big deal was that made me go off the way I did, a perfectly reasonable OP. Maybe it was simply the picture of JB dragging the MSU secondary across the goal line with him. Still hurts.

Yeah, some posters on the old board knew his family from church and said the same.

thanks, and I did not realize Journey was from Erie. I thought he was more to the center of the state.

I am with the others here in feeling for Journey. Such a tragedy and such a great young man.
