Is he going to be assisting with punt returns? Because I’m not sure I can handle any more complaints about Calvin Lowry and punt returns.

Mr. Lowry is a very nice guy. But you are spot on. He was probably the worst punt return man in PSU history. The fumbles were numerous and he was very slow.

Not even close to the worst. He led the Big Ten in punt returns and was #6 in the NCAA in 2005. Number of returns, that is. :)

Yards per return. Not bad in 2005.

Punt Return Yards Per Return
2003 9.2 (#6) Big Ten
2004 8.3 (#10) Big Ten
2005 10.6 (#4) Big Ten

Single digit average yards on punt returns is not very good. But the real problem with Lowry were those fumbles. They were real momentum killers.

Didn’t take long for the first few retro complaints to show up in this thread. 😂 Quite a flashback!

I distinctly remember Joe’s quote when someone once asked in a presser about so-and-so player hypothetically starting to return punts: “Calvin Lowry is good enough.”

Do we win that 2005 OSU game without his INT?
🤔

Do you remember the 2003 Wisconsin game where Lowry fumbled a kickoff return and punt return in a 30-23 PSU loss?

Do you remember the 2004 Ohio State game where Lowry muffed a punt at the beginning of the 2nd quarter when PSU was already trailing by 14 points?

Come on man. I could got on and on with the fumble issues that plagued Lowry’s career. I am not saying he is a bad person or a bad teammate. Those Lowry fumbles in key situations were just killers.

Have you ever made a mistake? The guy had some fumbles. Nearly 20 years ago. You can definitely let it go now.

In case you have forgotten, this is a sports related message board where people post their opinions about Pen State Football.

PSU Football has a long history where many posters have shared their opinions about players and events from many decades ago. That is not a crime.

For some inexplainable reason you have taken a general statement on historical sports facts as a personal attack on yourself.

Seriously, if you find an opinion you don’t agree with or like, you can simply move on and not respond.

In the meantime, I encourage all posters to continue posting their opinions about PSU football, past and present. I would never pressure posters to post only the comments I like.

I think Cal Lowry's eligibility is used up.

However Tulsa National ranking passing 42 vs. Penn State's 46.
Tulsa's Keylon Stokes ranked nationally right behind OSU Marvin Harrison.

I didn't quite have the same memory as you, so I went back into the box scores and stats and recaps.

Your "facts" are a little off. Neither Lowry nor PSU was credited with a fumble vs. tOSU in 2004. You did claim a muff, but if no TO happens, no real harm, correct? MRob did throw a couple picks, though. Maybe you'd like to rip him.

Did you lose a bet or not make the over on one of these games?

Seriously, let the hatred go. You'll feel better and you won't troll a congratulatory post with your personal animus.

FWIW, I'm not going to get into a debate, but I do KNOW this: that pick vs. OSU in 2005 is one of the loudest moments in the Big Beav.

Buddy, next time you come at me you better provide data and a source.

Weak sauce. It says "muffed a punt" but that does NOT mean PSU lost the ball.

Here is the actual box score from the game, and it says 0 fumbles lost for PSU.

I did give you data and a source. They are called box scores. But I'll help you. Try googling that year's game with the words "Box score." That will reveal lots of data and sources. If you click on one, it will open.

Let's say it's ESPN's box score of the game. That also has a "play-by-play" tab. If you click on it, it tells you what happened on each play. It was there I learned that PSU did not lose a fumble in the game and only had the two turnovers, both INTs by MRob. That search was handy also in that I was inspired to fire up that YouTube thingy and watch the highlights from that breezy day in Columbus. Pretty windy that day, and it also looked like the sun and wind combined to contribute to that mistake. In hindsight, even Calvin might concede it was a poor decision to attempt the catch. Fortunately, the Lions recovered the muff, and went on a long drive but didn't get any points only flipped the field.

Now, let's address the point of my post, which went flying over your head: This was a congratulatory post. It was not the time to crap all over the worst moments of Calvin Lowry's career. Did you go over to the Franco RIP post and recall a specific fumble or dropped screen pass? If Blake Gillikin returns to PSU in a few years to mentor a punter, will you crap all over him for holding the ball a millisecond too long vs. tOSU in 2017? Heaven forbid Sam Ficken ever decides to help out a fellow PSU kicker, because you'll be whining "UVa in 2012." Maybe when Robbie Gould retires and we have a celebratory post, you can remind everyone how he missed more than 1/3 of his kicks at PSU. Maybe you could tell a visiting MRob how his picks lost the game that day in Columbus, or remind Trace how his picks in the 1st and 4th quarters vs. USC cost the team a Rose Bowl?

Learn how to read the room.

If JVP can forgive Lowry for his fumbles and stick with him, maybe you as just a fan can cut him a little slack almost two decades later and not troll a congratulatory post by polluting it with this dung.

And I'll apologize like an adult when you start posting like one. I'm done here.

This is an opportunity to remind all posters concerning apology protocol. #2 is especially important. That can really aggravate the pseudo apology recipient and extend the already dead thread. Lastly, please, please, please don't skip #7. Forgive yourself. I'll be hosting a Zoom Kumbaya, My Lord sing along sometime next week at a time yet to be determined. Thank you.

Yet another poster who has a reading comprehension problem. Let me help you. Go back and read the thread from the beginning. You will find that another poster raised the Lowry fumble issue. I simply replied to that poster with facts taken directly from the Penn State Daily Collegian.

In case you missed this in elementary school, we live in a society with a free press and freedom of speech.

You do not get to dictate what people can post.

I offered you an honorable way out by asking you to apologize like an adult since you got cornered and trapped by factual data from a reliable source. Since you refuse to apologize like an adult, I am done conversing with you.

Have a nice day.

This group can't let go of a 6-4 game from that time frame. And will never let go of "11-11" over the last two years. They all need to hang their hats on something.
Must be miserable to be bitter about something over 15 years ago. Some people just enjoy being jerks. Too hard to just say ‘Congrats and welcome home Calvin’ I guess.

It's always been said that great athletes forget. Many fans seem to remember and obsess. It's one of the grave dangers of vicarious living.

Well, for those that continue to do, posted below are some basic rules:

How to measure penis length

Measuring your penis correctly is simple, but that doesn’t mean everyone knows how to do it. Here’s how to correctly measure the length of your penis:

  1. Start on the top side of your penis (the side of the penis facing up towards you when you look down).
  2. Put the end of your ruler or measuring tape at the base of the penis, right up against the pubic bone (where the penis meets the body). Be sure to push past any excess fat or pubic hair so the ruler is right up against the bone.
  3. Measure in a straight line from the pubic bone to the tip of the penis.

Kevin Baugh’s punt return fumble in the Sugar Bowl was worst than any fumble/muff by Calvin Lowry.

How so? PSU won that Sugar Bowl game for their first National Title. Baugh’s fumble did not result in a loss.
