No doubt they were certainly questionable and it's hard to complain from the bubble but conference games are still only 30 of the 56.

17 Lsu!!!

They think because of their history and tradition that they deserve a bid, regardless of the season they had

They played 1 semi tough series at home early in the season. Outside of that, they played all their games at home and all were cupcakes! To hell with feeling sorry for them or thinking they got screwed.

Couldn't happen to more deserving bunch!

Although this thread on TD is absolutely glorious and packed full of hilarity, they most certainly did not get screwed as 90% of those posters would have everyone believe.

There's all this talk of why did this mid-major get in and that ****** team get in and a major power like LSU did not. The issue is strength of your conference. The SEC is much, much stronger than the Mid West Mountain Pacific Sky Athletic Conference. Therefore, to compete, you must play much better ball than those in the MWMPSAC. The actual quality of baseball you play, must be light years ahead of those pathetic conferences. If it's not, you will lose a lot in the SEC. That's what happened. LSU played well in the first 15 games (sounds familiar) and then blew hind tit for the last 3/4's of the season. They were capable of playing much better (also sounds familiar) but they were not able to win enough conference games. Turrible College in the MWMPSAC won more of their conference games because they played better then the rest of the conference and so, they are in the tourney.

If you (or LSU fans) think they should be in and Turrible College should be out, then you have an issue with the auto-bids given to each conference, not with the NCAA's decision and seeding. Start emailing people that the lower tier conferences shouldn't get auto-bids, and that they should be used to fill in holes once all the majors get sorted out. But don't complain that LSU got screwed over. They played like turd in a very tough conference. St John's and Dallas Baptist or even UGA (above .500 in conference) are more deserving when you look at conference play and that's where the weight is placed by the selection committee. LSU wants the benefits of playing the best/strongest athletics conference in the nation, then they had better play great baseball. They didn't. They're out. Done.

FTR: The EXACT same argument can be made for OM. Yes, their RPI was higher, but wins are what count. Plain and simple.

Maybe LSU is better than Dallas Baptist. But I'm fine with Dallas Baptist getting a bid. I know their schedule was pretty bad, but it's not their fault no conference will take them. CUSA should take them to get to 10 teams and eliminate the off week. I know USM was pushing to take them a few years ago, but I think they were about the only one.

bids for the nothing conferences keep legitimate quality teams out every yr. the presence of the occasional cinderella notwithstanding, untill they start as closely as possible inviting the best 64 teams, then the tourneys are flawed, IMO.

LSU certainly got hammered here. What's the point in even looking at RPI and ISR, if your not going to use them in the selection process? This defies logic. Also, I disagree with "breaking down" a season, because smaller sampling of the same data just introduces more error to said data, and allows the introduction of MANY personal biases, depending on how you break it down. Looking at the season as a whole, removing the emotion of it, and LSU should have been in. Everything equal, we should be discussing whether or not Ole Miss deserved a bid. They were rightly on the bubble. LSU should have been the next team in after us, if not before us, IMO.

If it were Stony Brook in LSU's shoes, and they were ranked higher than ~10 teams with at-large bids in both RPI and ISR, I'd think they got 17'ed as well. Leaving out the giant that mathematically should be in is just crazy. IF they were ~35RPI, I wouldn't be arguing. At 24RPI, the backlash of this has only JUST begun....

that LSU should be in over the autobids. We're arguing they should be in over St. John's, Jacksonville, and Dallas Baptist, who are indisputably worse teams in every possible comparison.<div>
</div><div>Does LSU deserve to compete for a national title? Of course not.</div><div>However, does LSU deserve an at-large bid more than those three? Absolutely.</div>

</div><div>The tournament has space for 3 of these teams. Is LSU the one who clearly doesn't belong?</div>

with the way the committee handled this. Pretty obvious that we are one 9th inning come from behind Friday night victory over LSU from sitting home in post-season. Seems like there was a lot of stock in making the SEC tourney to make the NCAAs this year. LSU and OM were better at large teams than several that got in especially given the fact that Auburn was automatically out anyway. I really believe that if Georgia had been ineligible due to W-L record that the SEC would have only gotten 6 teams in which is ridiculous given the quality of the SEC.
