Man, 2024 almost had me contributing to NIL collective: This bowl ended that

9-4, yes it was a great season and a FUN season. Most ive enjoyed a season since 2013. Im not an NIL/portal fan at all, but after the Clemson win I said after New Years Id look into contributing to a Gamecock collective, why not? Its worth the fun

Until this bowl. I mean I kinda understand Rocket and Kennard, even though I hate it. But first Miami QB Cam Ward and now one of our stars!!??? The new cool kid trend is play the first half, get your bowl game perks, gifts, week of free fun, just to quit at halftime???

No way man. I’ll always watch and root for this team. But i wont send a penny of my family’s money to an NIL. Ever.

You came to the right conclusion.
I had to haha. As I said, as much as I hate it, ive accepted opt outs from true pro prospects are just part of the game now with non-playoff bowls

But if players quitting at halftime is now the new cool thing? Nah man. My extra cash will go to a vacation, not some NIL collective just to pay players who are gonna quit MID-GAME.

Sooner or later there has to be some consequences for quitting. - Strip them of their class credits to graduate? Fine by me. Kick them off the team and the NCAA enforce a 2 year ban on participating with another team on ANY sport? Fine by me. Strip them of their scholarship $$ and make them pay their bill? Fine by me.

Whatever it takes - I'm all for it. Quitting on your team is not ok.

When you contribute to NIL you get a good player that will just quit on you when you need them. So what is the point really?
Exactly. They want us to contribute surplus money that otherwise would go to our family’s fun or something for ourselves, yet they wont play in games that fans pay them to try to win? No thanks. As I said, I’ll always watch and root for the Gamecocks but NIL contributions?? Nah hard pass

Absolutely my same scenario. Beating Clemson amped me up and I considered doing the $100 a month club. But, I absolutely agree.

If the $7K I spend in tickets a year isn’t enough, tough.. I’m not taking even more $ from my family to pay an entitled kid. Why is it incumbent upon the fans to pony up more, when their argument has always been “the school’s are making all the $”??

Well, the school still gets to keep all of that and us plebes are the ones who subsidize millionaire children. No thank you!!

We’ve had season tickets for 11 years. After my daughter graduates next year, I don’t see us renewing even that, much less NIL. Please..

Good call. The thought of helping an 18 year old kid drive a Lambo and live a life of the rich and famous while my children and grandchildren need help never crossed my mind.

Then there’s very poor people needing help. They come 1st. I suggest giving money to St. Judes, Samaritan’s Purse, and Compassion International instead

Yep. I quit giving to GT. It’s a waste of money.

Give the money to an intelligent high school senior in your area who is a good kid and is trying to figure out how to pay his way through college so that he doesn't accrue crushing student loan debt. You'll get a better return on your investment in the long run.

^^^^ this guy gets it. Might I add T4T, Wounded Warriors, etc. I have loved (not always liked) our team since 1974. My contribution wouldn’t take away from my family. I’ve been blessed. But sports is just something I enjoy watching. There are so many that NEED help more than I care about winning at ALL COSTS.

That's something this Tiger can agree with you on.
