A few years ago in which Smith said that this job was one of the few he would consider. I've looked for it but cannot find it. Wish I could.

As a current medical student, the only way KB21 is a medstudent and has this much free time to pontificate on the status of MState baseball, is if he just graduated from med school or just finished step 1 of the boards. I barely have time to read this page once a week. if he doesn't meet the aforementioned criteria, then he must be a ****** student destined for a life in psych, peds, or family med...(not that there is anything wrong with those fields...someone has to do them).

Clearly the jig is about to be up. Happydawg2 is on top of it.

med school per se. Seems like he's in some medical field but not actually pursuing an MD.

Thing is, happydawg is the one that will get reprimanded by Gene b/c he told KB to shut up earlier.

We've been living off finishing 3rd in Omaha since 1985
It isn't JUST baseball though. He just placed the MSU sports mentality in a nutshell. When we have any success, we milk it dry for the next few years before deciding that all the following lousy seasons warrant a review and possible coaching change. That's not to say that we always follow up success with failure. I'm saying that when we do follow up success with failure, our fan base tends to give a pass to the head coach for years to come.

Winning programs, particularly SEC programs, don't generally think like this. They expect success to be built upon success. At MSU we seem to be okay with one winning season in football every 4-6 years, or a win in the NCAA basketball tourney once every few years, or hosting a regional in baseball once in a blue moon.

Any kind of credibility for KB21 is gone in one single post that he made on the sheep board when he listed Jim Case as one of the possibilities to be our next head coach.

Barely over .500 in six years at Jacksonville State. Yeah, that qualifies him to be the next head coach at MSU.

in the Pacific Northwest for all he cares since he has no idea how to recruit in this area and has no clue of SEC competition. Oh but Shoop, Case, and Hudak do? Holy ****, this guy is unstable. Even Gene is calling his goofy *** out now. I swear, let's get Veazey to do some investigative reporting and see if KB21 is actually Polk himself. That whole typewriter talk may have been a myth all along.

Yeah, the secret lake is pretty comical right now. Gene didn't much like KissButt21 running down Byrne left and right. He's already pissed off Murray a couple weeks back. It's like a really bad but funny soap opera taking place. You have to wake up pretty early to out-sheep Gene. A truly historic event in message board history.

"Knowing the task at hand." The task being winning in the SEC. I believe SEC baseball is the best, but he puts it so far above everything else out there that it is ridiculous. A person coaching for the first time in the SEC couldn't possibly win. Someone might want to tell that to Manieri who is on a 17 game winning streak and has a hosting spot all wrapped up in only his second season after taking over Smoke's mess. Yep, a guy that coached in the North would have no idea how to win in the almighty SEC. We don't want to even contact Pat Casey. He may have won back to back national titles, but he couldn't possibly win in the SEC. The best part is him mentioning how Slater knew "the task at hand" when he took the Auburn job because of experience he gained in the 90's, the friggin 90's. Hubdog then says he failed but at least he knew. What good did knowing do? That is possibly the dumbest argument I've ever heard. If you are going to fail, at least fail with an SEC guy? That's retarded. I'm glad none of these morons have a say in who we hire.

Someone needs to ask KB what he will do if we hire Cohen and he threatens the integrity of the game. Will he quit following MSU? We could only hope.

would be to watch the KB21 meltdown. Gonna be a fun month and a half coming up! Just in time for summer to.

I think the "task at hand" that he is probably referring to is keeping Polk happy. At least that's how I read it.

Just to watch Cowbell flip-flop and talk next year about how much he loves the fact that we crowd the plate and get hit so many times.

maybe it should be noted that the last 7 teams to win the CWS have been from a conference that is not the SEC. Im sure those coaches couldn't handle the pressure of the SEC though. They wouldn't have what it takes. Give me a break.

I think the reason Coach Polk is recommending can be summed up in this quote by Jay Powell:

"This was tougher than I thought it would be," former player Jay Powell said. "He's the winningest coach in the SEC, and he never compromised his morals to win games. He did it the right way, and that's impressive. To know he's never going to coach here again is tough."
KB uses a quote from Jay Powell to back up his support of Raffo for head coach. Of course, he ignores the Jay Powell quote from the Clarion Ledger where Jay says he is in favor of opening up the search as much as possible. Dear KB, Powell doesn't see eye to eye with you. Using his quote to back up your belief that Raffo should be promoted to the postion of head coach at MSU is shaky ground at best.

I'm still holding to the belief that KB21 is really a super-negative guy on sixpack who's still in the midst of a multi-year sheep-acting charade on Genespage.

Ripley.

Not many people in Ripley and being a MSU fan narrows down the field too.

I find that kind of shocking. Hell, I didn't think you could get a job as a secretary without a master's degree at a major university. You can barely get hired at a high school these days, especially a high school that is in demand from teachers, without one.

He might have it now. I know he was getting at State when he was hired but it didn't say when he would graduate.

who has a master's degree: there is no more worthless piece of paper in this world unless you have it from some extremely high ranking insitution.

Greg's work at Oregon State, Kentucky and MSU are far more impressive to me.

For some reason, I was lured over there to see what all the fuss was about re: KB21. I hadn't been over there in years. The posters on that message board are absolutely delusional. It's kind of like some kind of weird internet forum group-think in-breeding or something.

-Edit for grammar

He's also working on his master's degree at MSU and is expected to graduate by the end of 2008.
And I agree with 8, I hope it's free to him as an employee, since that's what it's worth.

ill be happy when MSU picks a damn coach. all this 'Raffo' **** will finally stop a couple weeks after that, regardless of who gets the job, and this guy will no longer have so sift thru thread after thread after thread asking if Raffo is good enough, or if we can do better, or if an unproven assistant should get the spot, or if MSU baseball is still a 'powerhouse', etc etc etc.
and ill be happiest once this KB dude no longer has anything to talk about.

I read the thread over there as well. I'm not sure why you make the statement:

"The posters on that message board are absolutely delusional."

because with the lone exception of one or two posters (KB21 being almost the lone ranger on this issue) everyone else there sounds just like the posters here - they don't want Raffo and think KB21 needs some medical attention.

Steve Smith still loves MSU, and always will. But I think is fully at home at Baylor, as is wife and family. I had a little talk with him in passing after they beat Texas a couple weeks ago, since I was in town and decided to check out the game.. (Hey I wanted to see some good baseball besides the crap I been watching all this year on our field....and did Baylor won 4-1, lost 6-0 on sunday to a dominating texas pitcher) but anyways, He still talked very well of MSU, but I don't see it happening.

I'm not going back there for examples, but the whole thing creeped me out, and KB21 was only part of it. Maybe it was the gratuitous use of words like "heck" and "dang" and emoticons. Maybe it was the general feeling I got that most of the posters don't have anything in their lives other than MSU sports and Genes Page. I don't know, I just feel pretty confident that I wouldn't want to hang around with these people in real life.
