Look at how he brought the head of the bat up when he followed through. Looks similar to a back hand in tennis.

I would love for Mangum to be a catalyst for change at the MLB level. The current premium placed on strikeouts and homers to the exclusion of every other aspect of the game is frankly boring and hard to watch. I like seeing guys put the ball in play, whether it’s to the pull side or the opposite side. I like it when guys shorten up their swings. I like when guys steal bases, or get an infield hit. We need more of that, and it’s right up Jake’s alley.

They ain't sending that Dude down.
I'm so happy for him. He's all dawg and an all time great while at MSU. Nobody could represent our University better than Jake has.

But I'm going to be honest here - I thought Tanner Allen had a better shot at making a major league roster than Jake. I still wish it for TA, but it doesn't look very promising seeing as he isn't even on in minor league ball now.

I am in the same boat as you. I thought Allen actually had a shot to move up quickly, but it looks like his career is done. Also, his rants about computers is not making him a lot of friends.

Listening to that White Sox podcast he was on, he said he didn't like playing in the minors. Sounded like he didn't like being away from home.

I have tried to get into MLB a couple times in the last few years and couldn’t, but I’m in on the Rays. My father in law added MLB to my TV a few weeks ago, and it’s been a lot of fun to watch Mangum. The Rays commentators are pretty good
Radio crew much better than TV crew and their TV crew isn't bad

Jake is the type player that could play 10 more years. He seems to take care of his body and works at his baseball craft.

Hear here! Jake lost 4-5 years off of his career because of just that. He's making the Mets and the Devil Rays both look stupid. I quit watching mlb because of the exact same thing (Strikeouts or home runs) and it's boring as hell.

He's reminding people of Ichiro.

Just a few snapshots to show this great piece of hitting. This is an absolutely nasty pitch from Skenes. 94mph cutter that’s belt high when he starts his swing….

….and ends up in the very bottom of the zone. Perfectly placed pitch with ridiculous late movement, yet Jake still gets plenty enough barrel on it to hit it sharply through the infield.

Just wait till Mangum gets one of those torpedo bats!

TA kinda didn't have a position in the majors. Jake is an average to above average outfielder who can rake. TA can flat out rake.

TA actually cannot rake at all at the pro level. He sucked the entire time in the minors, even A ball. He never made the adjustment to the wood bat.

I started watching a lot of Orioles games last year and have caught a few this year, too. Ben McDonald does color. And Westy is an everyday guy and has done well.

Yeah, he’s the other I’ve kept an eye on. I watched a few Orioles games last year because of him. Keep track of Rooker and Frazier too, but Mangum getting called up was the first time I’ve sat and watched every game for a team since the Braves in the 90s. I think the underdog story is a big part of it for me
