No. UNC going on a 12-14 point run to open the 2nd did. It changed the tenor of the game. That said, you're not a complete player at that level unless you can hit at least 8 out of 10 free throws. So should you want to be a complete player and help your team? Then practice. It's really that simple. I could go on about how kids today are spoiled, but I won't. Reserve it for another time and place.

Yeah, those 12-14 pts in about a 2 minute run early in the second half really changed the game around. I thought Duke had all the mo and UNC was just not focused then BAM…..and it was a total toss-up until the end. I thought UNC’s bearded big had lost the game as he went 0-2 then 1-2 on free throws…..then he hit a tough 3.

An entertaining game to watch!

Except that it isn’t that simple (and there are many great players hitting less than 80% at the FT line).

Manek missed three out of four FT’s in crunch time... it’s the moment. Those UNC guards won the game. Kansas will beat UNC though on Monday night. Book it.

Glad to see coach K lose twice to UNC in the biggest spotlight. Please keep him out of the broadcast booth! Funny seeing Roy Williams all masked up until the game was over then it was OK not to be masked up. Didn’t he somewhat depart in disgrace because of academic fraud at UNC? 30 yrs of academic fraud if I’m not mistaken.

No one play wins or loses anything. Every play has relevance from start to finish imo.

totally agree. I think the win or lose label goes on a player who suddenly is playing out of their normal band (good or bad). FT % is one of the easy ones to pick on. A player who for the season is 75% at FT line, who then say hits 2/10, is well outside their normal performance range - so would likely be labeled contributing to the loss. I would say that if a player goes 0/2 FT with a minute to go in a 1 pt game is likely to get labeled losing the game, especially if the second shot rebound goes to the DEF. nobody remembers all the other plays that contributed to the situation that got that point.
