Not the greatest endorsement when a guy transfers and says the things he’s saying. “Never been 4-0.” “Best decision he’s ever made was to transfer to USC”.

While I get those things are probably true, he’s taking a kind of taking a dump on the guys he played with / for. No doubt he was butthurt over something...probably his OL overruling Satterfield on the play to seal the game against Clemson when they told him to get it to Juice. He handled leaving poorly. Burned some bridges. I doubt the guy ever wants to come back to Columbia, but I sure hope we never honor the dude as a former player in any capacity.

There is a way to leave the program in a good way. Marshawn didn’t do it.

I have never heard a transfer admit they made a mistake (when they were still playing for the team in which they transfered in). That said, it was in his best interest to transfer. Prefer if he took the high road but there were a bunch of you that took shots at him when he transfered.. Turnabout is fair play.

I think anyone who leaves and has any success would say the same thing.
Don't think Satterfield had any say in beating TN or Clemson regarding play calling. But obviously Juice was the right call.

Bunch of You? You mean some on this board? I don’t recall saying anything and even agreed he was probably going to benefit.

And I agree that nobody says it’s a mistake. We had Rattler say some things last season about OU. But there were some things at OU that put a chip on Spencer’s shoulder. Lloyd was the #1 back last season and would’ve been had he returned. I’m sure the article took his words and made them sound like shots. The 4-0 comment especially. In the end, I guess he’s happy to be there.

There is video of the OL telling Satterfield to give the ball to Juice. Marshawn’s body language didn’t look great after they said it and he walked off. He made some comments when he transferred that I would say alluded to that moment. Something along “being the guy”. I think that crushed his ego big time, knowing he wasn’t the guy his teammates wanted to have the ball in that moment.

He had shots taken at him bc the way he handled it. He tells Beamer he's good. Beamer goes on a recruiting trip and finds out that while he's gone Lloyd decides he's going to transfer. He certainly doesn't owe Beamer anything, just in the same way we don't owe him anything. It was a B move, and he's still a B for it.

I have never pulled as much for an individual player as I am for Mario Anderson right now. Worth noting that the biggest wins of the year, and probably of the last decade, came with him on the sidelines last year.

I believe the accounts also showed you were justified in your criticism. Marshawn handled leaving here poorly. That I can say now after learning what transpired.

I can’t read this article without taking some of that into account.

It's one thing to transfer because it's in your best interests after reviewing the entire situation. I might still not like the decision, but it's within the rules and is the way the system works today.

It's an entirely different thing to have a conversation with your coach on Friday about everything being good, then leaving without another word on Monday. That's where most fans have the problem.

I don't wish Lloyd ill, but I could not care less about him now. He burned that bridge in Columbia with how he left.

Too bad the OL wasn't helping Satterfield call plays the first 10 games of the year.
Can’t find the full video, but there is a small cut on this one at 2:36. This is where Sat says to give it to Marshawn and the OL emphatically tells him to get it to Juice. This just shows where Satterfield changes the call and says get it to Juice. Glad we did.

Personally, I never paid attention to how he left, why he left, or what he said or didn't say. He left and wasn't coming back. I just happened to see his stats after last week but I won't follow him.

I wish him well. Same for all the other transfers. They have their reasons for transferring in or out. I'm not in a position to judge. I do know that with NIL and the new transfer rules, players are going to be on the move.

I'm not following him either. The only reason I even think about him is because these threads seem to pop up once a week!

Anyone who transfers out I'm not wishing well but neither am I wishing ill either. I just literally do not care about them anymore.

I was never impressed with him (even knowing he wasn't running behind a good Power 5 offensive line).

How I feel: I hope they suck on the field and do horrible, people call them bad names, and they go home crying about what a bad decision they made.

Reality: They both will do very good, and have a chance to make the playoffs.

Realistic hopes: USC loses to Oregon on November 11th in Eugene, and FSU loses to Florida in Gainesville on November 25th.

He doesn't need any support from us. Makes no sense to root for someone as a Gamecock if we weren't the last stop in their college career.

So riddle me this….based on the performance of both players in a SC uniform, who would you have given it to in that moment. Lloyd was not the man at that point and had missed several games prior to the tater game. Juice was a no brainer.

Oh I agree 100% Juice should’ve gotten the ball. Make no mistake about that. Marshawn shouldn’t have gotten so upset about it. As I mentioned in the video posted, I’m glad we listened to the OL.

Just know I wasn’t questioning you when I said riddle me this. It was directed at all the “don’t blame him” posters who are so called fans but love to slant it that SC sucks and he made the right move. Funny, then why didn’t ML go there out of HS when no one was talking about SoCal.

I just responded and jumped in at your post since you described the video I saw where the O said give it to Juice. I wasn’t aware that hurt Lloyd’s feelings. Can’t believe a player would be that petty when it won the game.

O well. I liked him, wished he could have stayed healthy, but now he’s a memory at a school I care nothing about.

I personally don't blame him. He made the right business decision, even if he handled it like a jerk. SC doesn't have to suck for another situation to be a step up. The OL situation alone could lure a RB from here to there

Not sure what that has to do with giving it to juice in that situation.

I had never heard the butt hurt over Juice getting the ball thing. Not a good look for him. But most players want to start and be an integral piece of a team. He was, and could have been even bigger had he not stayed hurt.

Call me old school, but give me players that want to be here. Otherwise c ya.

I don't disagree with anything you said there.

I think that train of thought can exist alongside the idea that Southern Cal is a better step for him if he wants to make it to the NFL.

Better OL, easier defenses, he gets to show off more. (As of now, he's got about 40 more yards rushing than our entire team. ) He was still a jerk about how he handled it.

Was that our fault or his? If I can’t control what you do, don’t blame me.

So Cal records since ML was in HS being recruited:

2018: 5 - 7
2019: 8-5
2020: 5-1 covid yr
2021: 4-8
2022: 11-3

wonder why ML didn’t jump earlier🤫

It is unrestricted free agency…..I wont really help my team get better, I will find one that’s currently better then go there. Sounds about right for today’s fabric.

And I am one that agrees players should be able to do commercials and such and get paid. (Took me a while, but I see all sides now).

ML got mysteriously injured before he ever took a real game snap. Similar to Doty getting stepped on in my book. But who is tracking. The University he pledged to play for free tuition, which is likely in excess of 25k a year now- (may be off slightly) graciously paid it. The University then paid to repair his knee (I'm sure north of 65k) to extend his monetary prospects by being a productive player. The University offered him State of the Art facilities to rehab his knee while paying him a year not to play. The University supported him with NIL opportunities, commercial appearances, endorsement opportunities galore. The University then offered him the Top billing as a starter when he returned to action. IF these were amateur, athletes than I could get the need for fans to temper their resentment towards a 19-year-old kid. But to shell out at least a quarter of a million dollars on someone and them then make innuendo against said university then they open themselves up for criticism. To me is it plain and simple- Bad Karma for that kid to thumb his nose at what he was/has been provided. School Teachers have the right to complain- the good ones that aren't woke infested. Paid less, taken for granted, horrible politics in school systems, etc... They can complain more so than 20-year-old kids who have not earned the right. If no one can convince them, life will. But his words aren't words of a TEAM guy. Bad Karma

Who cares if people care?

But for people who do, there is reason to care. It’s not just fabricated. You may not, but it’s not like this is just nothing. I would imagine quotes like this will pop up when teams recruit against us. We don’t recruit a ton of guys that So Cal does, but if we’re going to get where we want to be, we will. Heck, we just retired Alshon’s jersey, a guy Beamer stole from So Cal. So yeah, you can take it to the bank these comments will come up in recruiting at some point. They’ll use Lloyd as the example as how the recruit will regret choosing us. Not just SoCal…other schools as well. Of course I’m sure there are comments like this on most schools.

After thinking about it more, I don’t think Marshawn’s intent was to say bad things about us. But it’s not a great look for us. So I do care about that, though he’s not to blame.

As far as him leaving, the way he left sucked. He screwed over his coach and his teammates. It is what it is, but I don’t like it. I won’t pull for him going forward, and I hope we never invite him on the field or to anything for recognition. How a person leaves determines a lot of that in my opinion. I’m fine with some other transfers being recognized as Gamecocks in the future if they desire. Many may not. I’m sure Lloyd probably won’t anyway. But don’t want him to get the best of both worlds, coming home to us and So Cal with the way he left.

But again, is it not ok for people to have a feeling about this? Just as it is ok for people not to care?
