Md never seems to go out and test say on the road against an SEC team or a competitive BIG team. They talk about winning championships but certainly do not seem to schedule anyone with a pulse. This seems to be how they schedule every year.

The Virginia game was likely scheduled back when they were decent plus there’s that whole ACC nostalgia thing. People could say the same thing about PSU this year - oooooh, real tough scheduling WVU OOC this year. Until schools stop scheduling 6-7-8 yrs out in non-con, you’re gonna keep seeing these perceived disparities.
Far be it from me to defend the Twerps, but they are not a CFB blue blood. They don't need to schedule Bama or Clemson or SoCal. They did a home and home with Bevo a few years ago (and swept). They've had VT/WVU/UVa/Cuse as their noncon game for several years. Given that SOS isn't a criteria for playoff success anymore (and they aren't really in that stratosphere anyway), their thinking is probably just to get to a bowl game somewhere as a reward/respite from being 4-5/3-6 in the B1G East.

Penn State has only started the season on the road against an SEC team once. 1959 @ Missouri.
Agree and with that OL of theirs they may struggle with Indiana, MSU and Rutgers. Our DE's will feast on their offensive tackles.
Didn’t we play Delaware last week and have UMass coming up? Playing bad out of conference games is Power 5 standard operating procedure.

I can’t stand the racist locksley at all but I see nothing wrong with what he’s doing schedule wise. He’s got to try and get as many nonconference wins as he can because it’s tough to get bowl eligible in the Big Ten east otherwise.
