Now you’re just speculating…I was merely responding that Iowa’s football program shouldn’t be lumped in with the likes of Rutgers and Minnesota. 🥴 I think most knowledgeable & unbiased football fans would agree with me.
I am being unbiased.

I have no bias towards any team or fan base. I have long said that on here when other fans complain about fans from other schools and how they are "mean".

You are closer to minny and rutgers than you are OSU and Oregon. It will always be that way.

Campbell has wanted out of Iowa State for a while, ever since NIL started at least. He has seen the writing on the wall. We could have had him in 2023 instead of Rhule, I guess now we will see if Trev made the right choice. We will see how Campbell does at a program with a lot more resources and tradition (and pressure).
If Matt was truly an option with Trev, we definitely didn’t make the right choice.

Better than no history of accomplishing anything of substance in college football. As bad as Nebraska has been the past three coaches, they're still held in much higher regard than iowa. Outside of iowa, no football fan with a brain even thinks of your hawks.
lol…you need to get out of your Nebraska “bubble”. Go to any other Big 10 campus/state and Iowa football is held in higher regard than Nebraska.

I never said that Iowa football is on same tier as Ohio State or Oregon within the Big 10. However, they are certainly not on the same tier as Minny or Rutgers either. I think even you would agree with me there. 🤔

Now back to the post topic. Iowa State’s new coach Jimmy Rogers. He is a young guy (38) win a national title at SDSU when QB Gronowski was there and then coached at Washington State one year and went 6-6. May, or may not, turn out to be a good hire.

Matt Campbell is a better coach than Matt Rhule.
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:No AD in the country believes that-Id be embarassed to say it. Matt Campbell is up there with Urban Meyer -Saban-Stoops -Bobfather-Osborne :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:Hell he isnt on par with Frank-Calahan-Bo and Riley
55% w/l in the weakest conf in America with a 9 win ceiling except for a perfect storm once a decade.
He and his agent have thrown his name in the hat for every opening in the BIG -including Nebraska's going back to Riley's and Frosts as well as Rhules hirings-and no AD has been dumb enough to fall into the mediocrity trap. He will be lucky to be bowl eligible until he is fired at PSU which will probably be before yr 3

Not hardly, but you keep thinking that. Trust me, iowa is not on anyone's radar or conversation unless they happen to play another B1G team that week. Iowa fans always keep other B1G fans laughing.

Been wondering the same. I can't imagine it's been botched this bad. I mean, this is really really bad if they really don't have their guy yet. Common sense would tell you their guy is hired and is either in the playoffs and/or a conference championship or in the NFL and all this other stuff is just "reports" and speculation, but I guess stranger things have happened.
This post aged well. Happy to be wrong tho

I think with the PSU kids that will graduate, the kids that Franklin has went after and the loss of so many recruits Matt is really gonna be up against it for a few years. Yes, PSU is a fertile recruiting ground but I expect everytime the go after some kid, so will Franklin, LOL.

Matt is joing a conference where teams like OSU, ORE, IND are clearly better, and USC, MICH, WASH, IA are clearly better. Then you have several just as good as PSU with potentially MSU and NW getting better. Thee are probably 12-14 teams in the BIG that can beat PSU on at least a year by year basis.

Matt may be a 3 year last resort hire who will be sent packing and then PSU probably goes for a new high profile hire since the AD will have been fired long before then. There will be a half dozen or so younger coaches who may had the seasoning by then to take on a big job like resurrecting PSU.
I’m getting more comfortable with the idea that PSU’s AD thought NU was going to be better than we ended up so he could give his buddy his dream job. Why in God’s name did he fire Franklin if he didn’t think he already had his new head coach? Who else could it have been? Rhule was off to a reasonably good start. Even the Michigan loss wasn’t a deal breaker. He most DEFINITELY was flirting if not out and out pursuing him before our Minnesota debacle. Yeah, that’s the path I’m headed down. I think maybe Rhule was still a possibility if he had beaten Iowa.

That 1997 national championship t-shirt you are still trying to squeeze your fat belly into after 28 years is cutting off the circulation to your brain.

Like I said…ancient history. Apparently, it doesn’t impress recruits. With the loss of Emmett Johnson…is Nebraska even going to field a football team next year? 😳
How sad is it that you have to spend parts of your day infesting the NU board? I realize Iowa is a wretched place to live, but there must be something there that can occupy your time. Try going to one of those Dutch clogging festivals, or go apple bobbing, rather than come here and throw up all over this board. You add nothing and your support for non top 25, mediocre program like Iowa is laughable. If you hurry you can Hee Haw.

You can site all the ancient history you want. Iowa was a “whisker” away from being 10-2 this year and in the CFP. I agree that the other schools you listed weren’t even close. Iowa recently signed a good recruiting class, and has a stable coaching staff, so in today’s playoff landscape they have a good chance of making it there one of these years. 😉
I will cite some ancient history for you…old man crusty Kirk Ferentz will never reach the playoffs and will continue to be the coach with the most losses in the Big-10.

Now that Campbell is coaching Penn State, count that as one team crusty will never beat as Campbell did more with less beating Iowa on a regular basis while he was at ISU.

Way, way, way, before they started demanding the need for feminine hygiene products in male locker rooms up in Gopherville
You were just belching about history. Over 50 years out is relevant, but over 60 years is too far gone? Which is it Karen?
