Shame he got hurt early with the Ravens. He could have got Some PT w Lamars issues
They played RG3 over Trace last season when Lamar was unavailable. I'm not sure he would have beat out Hunley had he been healthy.

I think to best into the nfl pension plan is still 3 years service, and practice squad time counts. I’ve know a number of guys who had a couple years in the league and hitting that threshold is a big deal. I’d love to see TM pile up a nice 5-7 year career as a backup

He has to be signed to the active roster and paid for 3 weeks at active rate so this is definitely a promotion for now.

  • Players cannot be signed directly from one practice squad to another. They either have to be released first or added to the active 53-man team.
  • Practice squad players are not allowed to sign with upcoming opponents, unless done so a minimum of six days before the two teams’ game (10 if the team is on a bye).
  • If a practice squad player is signed by another team, he receives a guaranteed three-week salary and will count against the 53-man roster for at least three weeks — even if released before those three weeks are over.

Hope he hangs in there, journeyman QB’s can last ten years or more. He’s already made around 1.5 mill in three years. Unless he goes into college or pro coaching he’ll not be pulling down that down for quite a bit. More power to you Trace.

The greater Phoenix area isn't a bad place to be as winter approaches as well.

LOL Bubby Brister. That name brings back painful memories.
But I would take Trace right now for the Steelers.

Honest question, do you think Trace is better then Ben? Outside of being from Penn State, Trace has done nothing the pros. 3/10 career

You’re a Pitt fan aren’t you? The veiled, but interpretable, tenor of your posts is a dead giveaway.

If the Master Moderator wasn’t so desperate for posts on his new board, he would have booted you long ago.

From Fight on State:

“McSorley started 40 consecutive games under center for the Nittany Lions from 2016-18, “

Did he take one snap “ under center”?

If one could grant a negative trophy point you’d get one for this post.
Why? Cause I questioned Trace's NFL ability? Oh my. I loved Trace at Penn State, but that doesn't always equal success in the NFL. The guy got beat out by Tyler Huntley and all of a sudden he is better then Ben, Rudolph, Colt McCoy, and Kyler Murray.

Yeah you got me.. I am a Steeler fan and don't always think guys who wear Blue and White in College are the best ever at their positions.

But, I will play your game. The Cards should just cut that bum Kyler Murray, he is probably one of he most overrated QB. Obviously if Trace was their starter, they be 11-0 and not 9-2.

BTW, How is Lamar doing? Remember the guy who you said would be a total bust in the NFL.

Please take this opportunity to remember that Franklin ruined Trace.

C’mon man, don’t be that poster. You asked point blank if Trace would be the #3 in Phoenix and the answer you got was, yeah, he’ll be the #3. You’re too smart to stoop to BS like this.

For the long term Trace needs to be in a place where he can be #2. McCoy has got to be getting close to the end of his career so maybe AZ presents a good opportunity. In the NFL, if you are #2, chances are you will get to play from time to time. As long as he learns the offense there is no reason Trace could not have a career similar to Rudolph in Pittsburgh as long as lands in the right spot. His pre-season injury gave Huntley an opening to win the #2 job and to his credit he seized it.

I have no high hopes that Trace will be in the NFL three years from now. I’m really not the one to know but going by what I think may be an understanding of precedent, I’d be surprised if he’s in the NFL two years from now.

Put yourself in Trace’s shoes. He’s been hearing from know-it-alls like me all his life. And still he is in the NFL. That’s something for us all to admire.

I think this is an appropriate follow up to my preceding post.

“Nobody thinks it will work, do they?”
“No. You just described every great success story.”
