The women are up 36-28 on Texas A&M with about 1:30 left in the first half.

I just noticed that A&M is 10-15 and 3-10 in the SEC. For everybody on this board that wanted Joni Taylor or Johnnie Harris after Vic left, you’ll probably have your pick of either in a few weeks.

Well after this win and the men's win, all I want is aTm to give up the colors. They can go to pink and green.

Guess who's coming to dinner on Thursday?!?!?

Great win. 18 assists to 7 TOs. If they'd played that way at Mizzou and Florida they'd be a tourney lock right now.

They’ll be ranked #1 when they get here. ND lost today.

This is about the time his State teams would typically have a **** the bed moment in an otherwise great season.

Really need that to happen.

I don't think we have much chance. They've been pretty damn dominant against anybody who's not an elite team.

I wonder if a loss Thursday and a win at Auburn gets them in??

Charlie Creme has us as a “Last Four Byes”, which means we don’t have a lot of wiggle room. I think we need a win in the first round of the SEC Tournament. We’re probably looking at a 9-11 seed in the SECT, which means the first round will be against the 14-16 seeds.

Currently, those are Georgia (NET 120), Missouri (NET 64), and Arkansas (NET 138). Missouri would be a Quad 2 loss on a neutral court, but both Georgia and Arkansas would Quad 4 losses and I don’t think we can afford one of those.

For what it's worth, in the projection from Friday we were in as a 9 seed...

Seems like a 1-1 week gets us in. We beat Auburn to death at home, but road games vs inferior teams have been an adventure.

Don’t know how the SEC tourney matchups look but I’d presume we don’t need to lose to someone bad in the first game there either. That’s what probably kept them out last year.

Only thing I can think of is 2017 end of regular season, we had a one game lead for the SEC title with two games left. 2-0 you’re the outright champ, 1-1 you split the title with SC. We went 0-2, including a home beatdown in the Hump against an unranked Tennessee on senior day.

But that was quickly erased by the subsequent postseason run.

Yep. Kentucky and Tennessee were the games in 2017 I pointed out. Makayla Epps was somehow Vic's kryptonite. I don't think he ever beat a Kentucky team that she was on. That senior night blow out by Tennessee was just embarrassing. They were 20-12 that year. Nobody really remembers that because a few weeks later we beat UConn.

We're looking somewhere between 9 and 11, which means we'll face 14-16 (right now, that's Missouri, Arkansas, and Georgia). Missouri (has a 61 NET, so that would be Quad 2. Arkansas and Georgia are currently over 105, so that would be a Quad 4. If Texas A&M or Auburn end up in the bottom 3, we're looking at 101 for A&M (Quad 3) and 56 for Auburn (Quad 2).

So yeah, our best case scenario is actually getting Mizzou or Auburn in the first round. A win would pretty much solidify a bid and a loss doesn't kill it.

Of course you're right. Looking over the 2017-2019 seasons, those teams were just stupidly good.

Here's what I was thinking of.

2017 - We're 27-1 and this happens...

Screenshot_20250224-115643 (1) (1).png

2019 - we're 22-1 and this happens...

Screenshot_20250224-115848 (1) (1).png

Those were all better teams we lost to than we are this year, but those losses still stick out because we were clear favorites in those games. Especially that Mizzou loss. Sweet Sophie Cunningham was tough that night.

I won't be surprised if we get destroyed. Vic's trademark D will probably force 30+ turnovers and 30% shooting.

Texas is in a tough stretch of games and they do play a road game tonight before our Thursday game. I give it maybe a 15 to 20% chance. Would be a tournament locking win, so they've got that to play for.

Just for full transparency, here are the quadrants based on NET rankings:
Quad 1:
Home 1-25
Neutral 1-35
Away 1-45

Quad 2:
Home 26-55
Neutral 36-65
Away 46-80

Quad 3:
Home 56-90
Neutral 66-105
Away 81-130

Quad 4:
Home 91-362
Neutral 106-362
Away 131-362

Our remaining opponents are:
Texas (#3) NET ranking at Home, obviously Quad 1
Auburn (#56) NET ranking at Auburn, Quad 2 since it's away (would have been Quad 3 at home)

Then one of these on a Neutral court:
Arkansas #144 - Quad 4
Auburn #56 - Quad 2
Georgia #120 - Quad 4
Missouri #61 - Quad 2
Texas A&M #101 - Quad 3

Unfortunately, I think Vic is going to beat us by about 30. We don't do well against defensive teams.

I mean i get your point but this happens to really good basketball teams all the time.

He didn't have many, but he had them...

Vandy 2015
LSU 2015
Georgia 2016
Kentucky 2017
Tennessee 2017
South Carolina 2018
Notre Dame 2018 (yes, it was)
Missouri 2019
Same comment as above. This happens to really good basketball teams a lot.

I bet vicks tenure at MSU is much better at this than most really good coaches. Geno, Staley, summit probably all have bad losses too but probably ahead of Vick.

ETA: calling 2018 notre dame a bad loss explains a lot about the dump $h1t you post.

I think all She Mate Me is saying is that our only real hope of winning this game is if we’re Vic’s once or twice a season head scratcher. Like how they got swept by OU last year or almost lost to Ole Miss a few weeks ago.

Boy, you are dense and totally missing what’s being said here.

Also, I’m not the only person on here that feels like Vic pissed that game away.

I do need to thank you though. You just reminded me why we have an ignore feature on this board. Have a good one, you simpering man-child.
