BTW, Boise lost their backup QB too. Not sure what programs you feel have a better culture currently, but perceptions aren't always the reality.
UNLV lost their QB mid-year. How many kids are going to quietly opt out of bowls on the advice of their 'agent'? BTW, where do all these agents come from all of a sudden? I think someone on here had a good question last week about who these agents are. In basketball, its usually the shady guy who hangs around practice or 'runs' the AAU team. How many new football agents have come into existence in the last six months?

This is ridiculous. It's cats and dogs mating time.

have not lost players to the portal opting out of playing in the playoffs? Why couldn’t Beau wait until after our last playoff game (available 5 day window)? Why not hit the portal now but still play in the playoffs (allowed in the rules)? What is wrong with our culture such that this happens to us, not other teams? Opting out of a meaningless bowl game is one thing, but who opts out of a playoff game? How can this not distract the team from SMU?
James Franklin explains why it's in the best interest of Beau Pribula and Penn State to not have him participate in College Football Playoff: https://on3.com/teams/penn-state-ni...e-him-participate-in-college-football-playoff

I don't doubt it and they are sneaking around every big time high school kid as well already. Just like they did in b-ball. They are certainly apart of the problem but the schools, conferences, and NCAA let this monster grow without guardrails forever as they just didn't want to rock the boat and keep those $$$'s coming in. Had they gotten proactive on paying the for profit sports sooner rather than this sh!tshow maybe things turn out differently.

He would miss out on finding the right opportunity. Most teams grab their portal QB now, not late January. Too hard to make visits, get school work done, and prep for playoff games.

I have to think Beau has a pretty good landing spot in mind because if he ends up at a MAC school or something I believe transferring could have waited until the spring....

OSU currently has 6 guys in the portal. Indiana has a bunch of players in the portal, including 3 that have entered in December, and one of those already committed to another team. Oregon has 5 guys in the portal, including 1 that already committed to another team. Georgia has 6 players in the portal, including 1 that already committed to another team. And so on.

In other words, the entire basis of your post is wrong.

Other than being completely wrong and beyond melodramatic, you nailed it.

It might be easier if you finally admit that not one of the players really care about PSU, its fans or its traditions.

This is such a childish outlook.

I didn't even like PSU that much before high school ... followed the football team, but wasn't a "diehard" ... went to college somewhere else before transferring in ... but almost chose somewhere else ... played here and graduated from here ... and then went to grad school somewhere else. I still care about PSU and its traditions.

Transferring out for whatever reason does not, in any way, indicate one does not care about the place, its fans or its traditions.

Stop being a baby.

COULD YOU BE MORE WRONG??? Ohio State has two backup QBs enter the portal: Air Noland and Devin Brown. In addition: Gabe Powers, LB, Jayden Ballard WR, Kojo Antwi, WR, and Miles Walker OT have entered the transfer portal.

Technically he's not allowed to get an offer until after he enters the portal. It's more likely that he was what advised re he might expect.
Technically you are right. Nor are you to be contacted by other schools. Yet Franklin said yesterday Beau was being pressured to visit other schools.
While most enter the portal "blind," it is my contention that most of the highly sought after players already have an offer before they "jump."

Not many athletes who quit their high school football team to concentrate on baseball get to play football for Penn State. I'm awed by your athletic prowess.
The childish people are those who think guys wear their letterman's sweaters and win one for dear old state. This era is about business decisions and what can get you to the next level. Beau grew up a fan of PSU Football. Yet when push came to shove, circumstances (portal and limited opportunities) trumped his loyalty. To be clear, I have no problem with what he did now that I understand the situation he was faced with. The reaction of his teammates is evidence that they understand, accept his decision and would do the same thing.

It’s possible to love your school and realize attending that school is not in your best interests. I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive.
From a simply academic angle, did I read correctly that he has actually graduated? If so, he’s fulfilled his academic mission as a Penn State student.

Athletic has Pribula down at #17 best qb in the portal. John Mateer Wash St. at 1. Eight of the guys in front of him are commited. So he's currently around 9th best available.

Scooby ... I didn't play football for Penn State.

You're also awed that I can tie my own shoelaces and don't need to resort to velcro.

Yes, those people are childish ... and you were one of them. Now you're a scorned childish person. This "era" is about people who were kept down finally getting their freedom and rights. It's often the case that oppressors look fondly back on the oppressive times and lament what was "lost." It's often the case that oppressors romanticize that time. Prior, kids had to choose a school, based off some millionaire salesman's pitch, and then they had to stay there and work a full-time job and please their master so they didn't get the boot, so they could obtain a throwaway degree for "free." If they decided to leave the plantation, they were punished by losing a year of playing time.

Not much different than public high school, and other options ... it's so romantic that kids were forced to play for Creepy McCreepster and his Minions of Ineptitude, so they huddled together and got what they could out of it. And part of that was labeled "school pride." But when they had the opportunity to bolt for private or charter schools, oh how the Creepy McCreepsters lamented the loss of "school pride" keeping them there. It used to be so great when kids couldn't leave. Now those uppity bastards are all about themselves.

And how did you not understand the situation he was faced with prior?

FALSE!!!

They ALL have players opting out. EVERY school in the playoffs and PSU has the second FEWEST.

Amazing that some moron is too lazy to actually look up the facts and will post something that is completely false

At times I wonder how bad the PSU fanbase is or just how badly some are stuck only inside the PSU box?

The original poster is a moron who is looking for things to complain about and even lied to make a point. EVERY team in the playoffs has players opting out and PSU is near the bottom. Before the Pribula portal PSU had the least.

Reggie: Please look up how many of the players who have entered the portal 1. are from playoff teams and 2. are not sticking with their team through the playoffs. Waiting with bated breath.

We already know Boise lost their backup QB too so take your L and do better next time instead of trying to be a victim. Bob is enough for this board...don't need more than one.

Regarding the timing, it could be that Pribula told Franklin that he was entering the portal, and Franklin said, “You’re either all-in or all-out. GTFO.”

o_O

Could be the opposite, Pribula called Franklin a jerkoff and left.
