Miami Dolphins picked him up a few weeks ago and he was starting tonight. When they were giving the player introductions I noticed that he did not say that South Carolina was his college but said something else. Did anyone catch the name of the school that he mentioned? Just curious but I'm not happy that he would he not acknowledge USC after we gave him the opportunity to succeed.

I saw that too. He said Richmond County. He is from Hamlet, NC which is in Richmond County.

It happens, Nuk Hopkins says Daniel High instead of Clemson. You see this 1-2 times per game. It is probably not worth worrying about.

Very common for players to acknowledge their hometown. No problem here. Don't think it was any disrespect to South Carolina.

Have seen him mention SC numerous times in his career. This is a nothing burger. Just a change of pace after many years in the league

This has been going on since about 1872 where players shout out smaller, less known schools or towns that also contributed to their success. Didn’t realize there were people who still don’t realize this isn’t a slight at a college or university.

I think the reality is that such a preference doesn't necessarily indicate the "slight" of a college by a former player. However, it might be intended as a slight. If this were, for example, Syvelle Newton, one could infer such an intention.

It is prevalent practice for players to give shoutouts to their HS, middle school, and youth league teams instead of college in introductions from time to time. Rarely is it ever a jab at their college but rather just giving the other ones a shout-out.

I wish all former Clemson players said their high school so we didn’t have to hear taterville
