Mikaela is the GOAT and it’s not particularly close for second place.
If she stays healthy she will shatter every record. Vonn would have more wins without the injuries. It's incredible how often Steadman clinic put her back together. To her credit as a competitor she kept coming back.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Lindsey was a great skier (and easy on the eyes). Mikaela at 27 broke the career record Vonn set at 33 and she isn’t close to being done.

I completely agree. Just pointing out that injuries can wreck a career. I hope Shiffrin stays healthy and keeps on winning. I also hope Americans eventually recognize how amazing she is and how extraordinary what she has done and is doing is. Sadly I don't have high hopes for that. Dominating any sport is tough. Dominating a sport measured in hundredths of seconds is incredible.
When Ted Ligity was winning GS races by multiple seconds (an amazing feat) he never got the recognition he deserved.

Mikaela will never get the recognition she deserves in the US. I would bet Europe is completely different.
Vonn was a fearless speed demon who specialized in the Downhill. She skied on the edge. That resulted in victories and spectacular crashes and injuries . Mikaela is the ultimate technician. Obviously she skis fast, but she is also usually under control. IDK if Mikaela has ever had a “spectacular “ crash.
Most expect Mikaela to add 20 to 30 additional WC victories to her resume. That’s the equivalent of a golfer winning 30 majors or a baseball player hitting 1000 home runs.
Unfortunately Mikaela laid a giant goose egg at the last Olympics, which is the only skiing most Americans watch.

Her mother is, has been, and probably will always be her coach. Strange firing the guy mid-season. Not shocking he took off.

I'll keep an eye open to see if there is any info locally. Nothing yet.

Mikaela needs to break Stenmark’s career record this month. She doesn’t need to be asked about breaking the record all off season.

Shiffrin finishes 3rd at the final world cup slalom.

If you are going to be near the Vail valley on April 2 come on by to honor Shiffrin and her 87 world cup wins. It's at Solaris at 4:00 PM and it's free.

Nice little video. Sounds like she's coming for the Downhillers. Scary if she start's winning downhills.

Gets the juices flowing for November. Only 4 months to go. Of course they are still skiing in CA right now.

Here's really good article from 2016 that will give you a sense of what she did to become a world class athlete. It's a bit over long but its from the New Yorker so that's to be expected. Otherwise a good read. As an aside, the guys in the local ski shop told me it takes around 5 people to help get her ski boots on.
