In 2021 we beat the #2 MLB draft choice in the regular season and also in 2021 the #3 MLB draft choice in 2022.

Asterisk my ***.

Depends on Williams’ price tag. #14 can demand ‘life changing’ money. I would hate to lose him.

Funny... Seems like a couple of years ago I remember a first round pitcher from high school skip the money and play at Dudy Noble. And that slot was 7 figures

He was in the 5% that didn’t sign. These deals are already done.

Read somewhere that if Williams goes top 15, it’s because a team wants to pay under slot; otherwise, he’d go later in first round.

/he gone.

There was disagreement over his physical. So he played independent ball this year.

When you listen to Dear Old State talk to the former Dawgs in the majors today, they say how tough it is to make it to the top level of the game, and worse is how hard it is to stay there. There is so much talent fighting to get your job. It’s a meat grinder. Tough thing for an 18 year old to do. Williams interview on ESPN sounded like he wanted to go to the majors, now.

In 2021,just 3 players drafted in the first ten rounds did not sign.

is that skewed by the Covid impact
- reduced draft
- more older draftees/ supers seniors

How does that compare to historical numbers?

Any kid that walks away from a 4 million dollar check needs his head examined. He won't be playing at the Dude.

We got lucky there. If Ginn was picked by the Padres a few picks later they would’ve have given him his entire draft slot money and he would’ve been gone. Instead the Dodgers were paying the luxury tax and going cheap on picks so we got him

25% in 2018 went to MSU. It's called stats. Look it up.

Ginn was a once in a generation case of the stars aligning with a kid from a well-off family, who grew up locally as a huge fan of the school he signed with, and also got drafted by a team that couldn’t come anywhere close to meeting the slot value for the pick, let alone exceed it. Comparing a random blue chip signee from Texas to Ginn is about as big of a reach as you can make. Williams never had any chance of coming to MSU unless there was some bizarre situation where an MLB team low balls him after a bad physical. And since he’s not a pitcher, the chances of that happening are basically zilch.

No. Still not through 10 yet. Don’t want to get Grey Fenter’d.

You just proved you don't understand stats. Like, at all.

Seems fitting from a guy whose pic says, "run the damn ball". I'm pretty sure I know the exact type fan you are. The one that you do NOT want to run into at the tailgate.
