My case study for term limits in Congress is this guy-
View attachment 690654

He is 91 years old, he is the longest currently serving member of Congress with almost half a century, and he will be 95 years old when his current term is up.
Are you 17ing kidding me?!?!
To be very clear, I dont have an issue with his half century in office because he is a Republican- its because qualified people with different viewpoints and approaches will help push the country more than Grassley or anyone else that is 91 and has served for over half a century.
Grassley straight up doesnt understand a ton of things that the US is facing right now and will face in the coming years. His staff can help him along all they want, but instead we need Congress members to actually understand issues.

Reducing how long anyone can hold legislative power and political power can be a very good thing.

Funny timing on my Grassley rant- local Reddit celebrated the 10 year anniversary of this very real tweet from Grassley.
No Grassley, I dont know what. Why dont you tell us what?

We agree!

24 years max in congress.
16 max in either house or senate and then 8 more in the other.

35 years max as a federal employee unless its as president (43 max then). I would say 30 years max but lots of people choose to work until 70.

25 plus 35 is 60 years. You wanna work after 60? use that gubment experience to go work in the real world.
Or work in the real world and then go retire with the goverment.

Man i didn't realize the order of operations there. Thanks for point out the obvious.

And yes I understand many (not all) CPAs would be out of a job. You can't rip the band aid off unfortunately. You'll have to simplify it over about a decade. You'll still need CPAs for business returns and such but the W2 system should be fixed. I'd love to do it at once but that would have too big of an immediate negative affect.

CPAs and lobbying is likely part of the reason we still have such a 17ed up system.
Cut everybody else's jobs, but not mine. Right?

He did tariffs in his first term. It wasn't blanket. He's going to do things mostly likely he did in his first term. IT WORKED OUT GREAT. Minus covid which anyone would have had major issues.
Did they work out great?
Countless studies that arent from liberal groups show the tariffs resulted in nearly 250K fewer jobs, reduced GDP(compared to what it otherwise would have been), reduced income, and resulted in more money paid to farmers than what it cost to run the Department of State or NASA, and was 3x more money than what it cost to run the Department of Commerce.

The government is the real world. Government employees teach our children, defend our country, cure diseases, keep our waterways clean, and so much more.

I hate to burst the bubble, but Mississippi will not receive a dime of that fed money because the 'Sip is not a state it is designated only as "that land mass immediately east of Louisiana" in the federal register. Sorry.

You are an idiot. If my job ever becomes something that’s not needed, I expect it will get cut.

that’s what happens every where in the world except for government.
