Yancy has been caught in several boldface lies, one about his package and also about scholly percentages for the two new commitments. There's a long thread on Nafoom where several folks are trying to convince themselves that recruiting doesn't matter, basing it on the results of the one and only Ed Orgeron. Spirit posters are saying they didn't offer Josh Boyd.

I hope they keep the hits coming.

in full swing. First, it's a pain in the *** to keep up with, and we all know where top ranked classes can get you on the field. Second, a lot will change their minds. Third, we are an 0-8 team, I don't expect us to light the world on fire. Heads will be turned if we get to a bowl though. Either way, it's farking July 1, and every year a "commitment" seems to mean less and less. I'll waste my energy on something more worthwhile.

No, it's not. I like following recruiting. And I know where top ranked classes can get you, and that's to the BCS. You have a clouded view of what exactly a "top ranked class" is. I addressed this is my original post.

a good class in and of itself gets you nowhere. With all the flip-flops in commitments, etc, I don't care that much any more. I'll start paying attention in October probably.

We spent six days arguing about gas grills. I wouldn't really qualify us ignoring recruiting as denial or "venom."

and the flip flopping of commitments isn't nearly as prevalent as you may think. Last year's Ole Miss class is not the norm.

but you also have to look at what positions they are. If you get 2 star corners every year but have 4 star RBs, well you have one RB with the ball and 2 corners getting burned.
Texas, LSU, USC those schools get 4 star and 5 star at the positions they need and they get in school. MSU and UM get 4 star people that either a) go Juco or b) flunk out of school or c) are just a POS or d) rarely live up to hype

Most of the time the reason UM or MSU get 5 star is because they have issues. The perfect example is Nick Turner. NFL talent and managed to get kicked off Murry State.

I dont understand why whenever someone brings up recruiting, the same people HAVE to post in the thread about how they dont care about recruiting.

We get it, you dont care about recruiting. You dont have to try to convince us over and over in every thread.

this time the past few years, State fans were saying who gives a **** - let's wait until signing day. Now that the cards are turned, Ole Miss fans are saying the same thing. I remember having this discussion with certain Ole Miss fans last year.

And I will say the same thing that I did last year - it's a whole lot better to be on the this side of the fence with early commitments than the other. But I will wait until signing day. And even though I am posting about this, this is precisely the reason I hate recruiting.

I'll start when the season is in full swing, but not in the freaking summer. All it takes is for one team to suck and the other to do well, and a lot of these guys will change their minds. Or LSU offers one of our guys. Same thing.

I'm not defending Yancy, because his post was childish and ridiculous. However, how do you know he was lying about scholarship percentages? Is it because Gene told you so?

Unless you know the Bright's yourself, then you probably have no clue how much either school offered.

the colors of those taking notice are also orange and blue, orange and white, crimson and white, etc., etc. Lifted from a UT board:

Looks like Josh Boyd would be a good prospect, a four star, position rated 24th in the country, has good size, top defensive end in the south. My question is: why did we back off (grades or other problems?) Damn, they are putting together a hell of a class.

The Moderator responded, "Grades are not a problem. We apparently found out he was serious about staying in state."

until they actually do something on the field, I've learned that the hard way to.

That said, I am excited about our baseball recruiting because we are starting to recruit players with good HS stats that have MLB size. Without a doubt, that is something to be excited about because you get enough people like that, some of them are going to be good players.

That would make a Tennessee or Bama fan's blood boil.

Exhibit A: Scotty Hopson. And all he did was temporarily commit.

I was gone that week.

Now we're back on the gayness of fruit-based cocktails during summer months.

We've been debating this for three years.

The same thing will happen when we have success and you don't. How long has the PLOI been on Khayat's desk?

The only thing that makes me laugh is that you said Yancy told a bold face lie, and the only reason it was a bold face lie was because Gene and Steve said it was. So next time Gene and Steve say something, can I call it a bold face lie because Yancy says it is?

Seriously, no one knows what either school offered. Hell, we may have offered more. Just be glad you got the kid.

Your lot in life is still the little brother. Yep you are going through some good times now after living in my shadow. I admit I'm going through a rough patch. I'm actually proud of you because it reminds me my lineage is still capable. Your ribbing gives you days of delight. And that is good, because deep down you realize what is obvious to everyone else: at the end of the day I still have the better looking wife, smarter and more handsome kids, live in a nicer house and neigborhood, make more money and will get the bulk of the inheritance. So live it up little brother.

our photo albums sitting in the living room. You know, the ones labeled "Omaha Trip". We've got several just lying around. It's still a shame you can never get away from that busy job of yours in order to join us sometime. And I know that Final Four album always brings back great memories for ya. I've gazed through some of your family photos and I've been wondering for years now, who the hell is Dunkel? Isn't that the crazy *** uncle that we used to throw stuff at during those old family reunions?

that it has been 21 years since Ole Miss won an SEC championship in a Big 3 sport? That you are the only current member of the conference without a championship in basketball? And yeah, you got us in football, but seriously, is there a real difference between 1963 and 1941, especially in the eyes of a recruit?

We're the little brother? What's that make you, the retarded cousin the aunt nobody likes adopted?

every year having mostly small weak hitters that make a lot of contact. The big trouble to me is they did not really hit with that much contact. J.Rae was a lead off hitter that I bet had at least six at bats a season where he would take three strikes and sit down never raising the bat off his shoulder. Mix that with all the called third strikes and 20 game slumps made me stop going to the games. He was one of our best too. I don't mean to sound like I did not like him because I did. When all your players are from that mold with one or two big sticks that mostly under achieve, I also am very happy to see the big MLB type we are getting. More than happy. Joining the Bulldog Club and going to all the games I can afford happy. I can't wait for 09.

PS: Congrats Raffo, even though you and Polk decided not to offer our new coach congrats and support. I just hope Mr.Polk goes to Arkansas too.

was in '77 (just checked my trusty SEC media guide to verify). So tack on another 10 to your claim and make that 31 years since they've brought home the hardware.

You must have remembered that it was our beloved Bulldogs that won the baseball title 21 years ago in Athens.

A mathematical error on my part, thank you for the correction. This means no traditional student on the Ole Miss campus was alive the last time the Rebels won an SEC title in a Big 3 sport.
