I mean you don’t have to watch any bowl games you don’t want to. I am going to watch while complaining about not being in the playoff and the defensive line.
I’m embarrassed to admit how many football games involving two teams with losing records.

If one thinks of a bowl game simply as an opportunity to have additional practices and give the kids (and fans) an chance to travel and play a game, why would any coach/AD turn down that opportunity? After all, if your team isn't in the playoff, that is all this is. A chance to play an additional game in the season.

Where's the best place to look for high school golf coaching vacancies?

The obituaries.
A financial planner I knew scoured the obits every morning. She wanted to immediately send a sympathy card 🤣. It often generated huge rollovers and customers who were sellling the family farm afterwards.

But here’s the reality: those teams thought their seasons were done. Most of the seniors have literally left campus and gone home. All of their classes are online and many don’t even have finals. Trying to get everyone to come back and be motivated to practice is an uphill climb. Unfortunately guys don’t play for the name on the front of the jersey anymore..

Now, if I were the coach, I would say I’ll just take my team of sophomores and juniors and let them have a game for good experience for next year. But for teams that are not rolling in cash, these bowl games are generally a money losing proposition.
This is the real reason why. It’s different than when Frost and Nebraska declined a bowl. For these teams, they already thought their season was finished. Checked in their equipment, had coach-player conferences, made travel plans to go home for the holidays, etc etc. Logistically, pretty hard to do a 180 course correction for the entire program at this point. Especially for a bowl that they will probably lose money on. It’s too bad and it shows how broken the bowl system is at this point. Eventually, some of these lower-tier bowls will have to pay out more money or just call it quitsies.

Maybe, maybe not. Every full shot taken is a risk that some injury will occur. Over the course of 4 days of tournament play there are more chances that something happens than what a CFB player may incur. Add to that the hours of practice range swings over the course of the event.

Of course, it is not as likely that it happens -- unless you are speeding out of your driveway in your Ranger Rover while being chased with a 9-iron by your "best friend" after getting found you had an affair with a waitress from Denny's.
Don't knock Denny's waitresses, they have needs too!

I was hoping to find a list of bowls with their respective payouts. I struck out, but I found out that Notre Dame would have made 6 million to go to the pop tart bowl plus I think they pay for the travel and lodging expenses. 6 million.. yeah, I bet they are wishing they could change their mind. The first round of the play offs only make 4 mil per school. Bunch of morons if you ask me.

The Las Vegas Bowl pays out 2.9 mil. It is not clear if that is split between the 2 schools or each school gets that amount. Still even 1.45mil is good money for playing a game in Vegas.

I think if it were 1.45 per school you would lose money. Expenses would exceed that based on past history and what I know from other teams I follow going to lower tier bowls.

From what I have read, yes. They pool all the money from bowl games and then split it. So, we hope all 3 B1G schools go as far into the playoffs as possible. It's big money.

If it helps us buy out Matt and replace him then great. Otherwise...DGAF personally
