it's almost like JWS was right: go for the 2, 3 and 4 star players and ignore the 5-stars and the baggage they bring to the table.
We really havenāt lost many in basketball that we have truly wanted to keep. Murph is the most significant by far.

We donāt ignore the 5 stars. We donāt land them. That strategy worked when you didnāt have scouting services and the big boys didnāt bother to come watch players in Nowhereville, MS.
Now that unranked or lower 3 star guy that chooses MSU over South Alabama, Memphis, or Mississippi Southern is just going to leave for a blue blood when he blows up here. This has nothing to do with 5 star baggage. You have given every D1 athlete the opportunity to go wherever the hell they want each and every year. Thatās 4 or 5 years of crootin visits, swag, special treatment, attention and ego massage. Of course a lot of these guys are going to jump ship on a whim
