UT goes for it on 4th down instead of fg. Converts, now 1st and goal at 2.

pu stops tennessee on 4th and goal on the vols’ first possession. pu wins with a score.

Controversial. It looks like the vols’ RB extended the ball across the goal line before the whistle, but they said his forward progress was stopped.

Can't overturn it. Ref already said forward progress was stopped. It has nothing to do with him being down.

Rb reached for td, but early whistle negated it. Purdue just needs fg to win.

UT coach mad at the call because he knows that he might get fired for losing the game. UT fans are that twisted in their fan dreams.

Not sure how a play is dead if no whistle is blown and the runner is not down

It's a shame such a back and forth game was decided by dubious officiating

I initially thought the same, but the official was clearly running in with his arms waving prior to whistle....not sure why, but that is the way it looked and he was the one who said progress was stopped. Yes, if your a UT fan you feel you were robbed, but at the same time if the running back would be battling after progress stopped and then fumbles and loses the ball in the scrum the same fans would be demanding progress stopped and he was down. Tough spot for an official and he has to make a jusgement call.

Maybe that ref doesn't have a whistle? I'm not sure how many do vs do not

Agreed it's a judgment call. Seems like bad judgment -- the runner was not being pushed backward and the elapsed time was minimal
