Many parents will identify with this kids issues. Often it happens with girls, who mature early and people won’t believe you when you say your beautiful 5’8” daughter is only 13.
My son was 6’1”, 250 lbs at 12. He was not permitted to play in our youth league, a perfectly understandable decision. By the time he went to high school he had never played a down in the sport. As a result he developed zero interest, and though he was 6’4” and 290 lbs, and could run, he did not play a sport until he found rugby in 12th grade.
He played rugby at Temple, it was more or less a club sport there, and he was recruited by the football coach to be a walk on. He turned the opportunity down. He only told me years later, but I understood. It’s a shame that circumstances like size and growth can impact young people, for the good and the bad. Life is not fair, Jimmy Carter was right about that.
Now my son is a father and his boy is three and shows signs of being like his dad. When I visit I put a basketball and football in his bed. Get us some of that NIL $ boy!
