My Five Questions for Saturday

1. Which Anthony Dixon will show up? I think this is a key to this game. If Dixon shows up and goes off for 120+ yards, we may win this game by double digits, but if he is hesitant and does some of the **** he did last year, it could be a long day. I'd like to see him with the attitude that he has some yards to make up. Auburn's defensive line is not a strong point - there is no reason he should not average 5+ yards per carry.

2. How will Mullen use Elliott? Rockin' the deuce showed that he can add a dimension to our team that no one else can. Did he get playing time last week because Dixon was out? We have got to find a way to get him on the field.

3. Will the offensive line prove to be better? Look, they looked better last week, but they weren't trying too hard. Was this by design or were they maxing out? I feel that we may have been going through the motions, but 200+ rushing yards and no sacks yielded- they got the job done. Auburn's defensive line is far from the best that we'll see, but will be a bigger challenge than JSU's.

4. How will the defense perform against a good offense? JSU's offense was bad, but they did get a couple of big plays on our secondary. That worries me, because Auburn can put up some big plays. I think we'll stop the run, but Auburn has the ability to pick us apart in the secondary if we do not get pressure in the backfield. This has to be the biggest improvement from Week 1 to Week 2 for us.

5. How fast will I drive through Uniontown, Alabama? I'm thinking 80 should get me through there quick enough.

My question: Will Dixon make holes that aren't there, or will he dance? I'm ready to see if he's through with the dancing ****. With this line, he has to make his own holes.

The D line I think will get some pressure. They got almost no pressure in the 2nd half 2 years ago and we won in Auburn against what I think was a more talented Auburn team than the one they have this year. Their O line is overrated and has a lot of guys on there who havent lived up to their potential. I think Relf's ability to break tackles and extend the play will be the factor that keeps him on the field the whole 2nd half like he did in the Jackson St. game. I think AD will show up. If he can pound the ball right thru the Auburn D line, guys like Elliot and Ducre might have an easier time getting around the ends on a tired Auburn D line. I think its safe to say that the DB's will get beat at some point. The thing we have to do is control how much they can squeeze out of those times. If we can keep them from breaking loose, I like our chances inside the red zone against their offense. Inside the red zone, we should see a healthy dose of Ben Tate, who is very stoppable. If we can stop the run and force the pass, we should be able to get a pick and change the game like we did 2 years ago.

1. I dont think Dixon gets 120 because he wont get the carries. Unless he breaks 2+ BIG ones. But he does change the game and add another back to the rotation for Mullen who likes to keep them rolling in and out to stay fresh.
2. I think Elliott will be used more this week than last. I think that when the playbook gets opened up a little more, we will see more Elliott and Bumphis, who were both slightly underused in the JSU game despite production.
3. Our line will start off getting torched a little. But, thanks to the Mullen screens and draws and quick pass offense, they will be aided and prove sufficient.
4. We will probably get torched on a couple of deep balls but opening the playbook up on defense as well should show off our new defensive guys and get some pressure on Todd
5. That should be sufficient

Do I think we can win? yes. Would I bet the moneyline? no Will we cover the 14? Yes

the two most frustrating things to watch are a team that can not stop the run and gets slowly pounded all game and a team that gives up deep ball after deep ball.

Until he consistently proves otherwise, I expect Dixon to be the same guy we've seen the last three years - a mediocre dancing back who tries to be a speed back instead of a power back. I don't think it really matters though because we have three other backs that are as good as he is.

Running the ball out of the spread offense, he might feel like he's running on a playground compared to the day of running into 8 and 9 man fronts.

Uniontown, Alabama is a speed trap of the first order. I believe it was designed that way intentionally. I know for a fact that their police department looks on speeding tickets as the major source of revenue for the backwoods little hole in the road. Speeding fines are what they depend on to support the town that appears to be populated primarily by out-of-work, good-for-nothing deadbeats. A ticket will cost you exactly $183.00. They are so set up for this that when you call them, they are ready to take your credit card number to pay your ticket. It is a town obviously run by losers who look upon anyone with an out-of-state tag as easy money. If you absolutely MUST go through there, don't even stop for a coke. If you have a flat tire, drive on the rim until you are out of town. Don't leave even one penny in that little crap-hole.

is how much our fanbase knocks our best players of ALL TIME. Our fans used to absolutely hate Madkin and the man has a damn banner on the side of the stadium. Now we've got Dixon that undoubtedly gets bashed more than he gets praised, yet he'll more than likely end up both the school's career rushing and TD leader. Granted, he's had a lot more carries than others, but still...

I'm not directing this at you Flab. I was just thinking the other day how much we bash some of the best players we've ever had. I guess it goes to show just how bad we've historically been.
