The football gods unleashed chaos yesterday and when the dust settles I think us and Clemson are ranked 14/15. More chaos will haopen nexf week. Being able to finish w a top 15 showdown is something no other teams have next week I believe. The committee will obviously see this.

However the chips fall, I believe the SC/Clemson winner finds itself as the 12 seed

Schedule only shows 2 ranked vs ranked next week, USC/Clemson and Texas/Texas A&M.

If Texas wins, A&M is done, 4 losses
Southern Cal is capable of beating ND with their trash schedule
Auburn is capable of beating Bama to KO them
Ole Miss has a rivalry game obviously

Theres a way its Texas, GA, Tennesse and US as 4 of tbe SEC teams in

I hope that is so, but just as likely that neither of us gets in no matter who wins.
Whith automatic qualifiers and such I'd think we would have to be ranked top 10.

Of the teams in the top 15, we are the last two teams who can earn a "quality win" in the last week. I don't think A&M will be anywhere near the top 15 when the new CFP poll comes out, so I don't think it matters what they do next week. Big time wins in the last week of the season have to count for something.

There's a chance.

Agree. For one week, us and Clemson have to unite in voice: THE CLEMSON VS USC WINNER HAS TO BE IN

They would deserve it so would we

Sorry, even a 2-loss ACC team doesn't deserve to be in. Who has Clemson played besides us? I guess they did beat a pretty dang good Pitt team at Pitt.

If Miami wins next week and then loses in the ACCCG to SMU, there's your 2-loss ACC team going to the playoffs (unless they get blown out... but don't count on the playoff committee to shun the ACC again this year). Not Clemson. And that would eliminate our chances of making the field.

If Miami loses this week, Clemson is into the ACCCG and is in the playoff if they win that. So they still have a chance even if we beat 'em.

Also, the SEC could only get 2 teams in. If Georgia plays Texas again and loses, they're likely out. Tenn slips in the back door as the only 2-loss SEC team (if they beat Vandy). Then the committee is forced to evaluate all the 3-loss SEC teams... vs. a slew of 2-loss P5 teams. Assuming we win, we would be evaluated against UGA, Bama (maybe), Ole Miss (likely), Missouri (maybe). We lost to 2 of those teams, unfortunately. But then again, we'd be on a 6-game win streak, with 5 of those wins against ranked (at the time) opponents. Given our history, I just don't see them picking us over UGA and Bama. And with all the SEC losses, we don't get 5 teams in the playoff. Texas is the only given SEC team in the playoff right now. Tenn right behind them, but has to get past a tricky Vandy team this week.

So many possibilities.

Tune out the Noise!

Beat Clemson first!

Honestly, I really wish both head coaches would scream this from the mountain tops at their press conferences this week, then every other time a microphone gets shoved in their face.

Really, this is all that needs to be said. As much as we might need both coaches to advocate this week for the winner to go to the playoff, I don't want our coaches' or players' heads to be on the playoff rather than on taking care of business this week.

We're a longshot. Let's leave it at that and concentrate on winning the single game that matters more than any other.

My thought is that Texas, Georgia, and Tennessee are all in unless Georgia or Tennessee lose to GT or Vandy, Respectfully. With OSU, Oregon, Penn State, and Notre Dame being locks, that leaves Big 12 school, ACC school, and Boise ST as remaining best case scenario. That would leave two spots which is anyone’s guess at this point. I feel like it will end up being Indiana and the weaker of SMU/Miami unfortunately. Indiana has no business in the playoffs.

Espn power rankings for this week pretty much give us no hope.
While they have Clempson passing up Alabama and Ole Miss they don't have us moving forward.
I really can't see any reasonable combination of events that get us in.

Our history got us into the baseball playoffs a few years ago.

I would not matter if we finished the season 1-11 with Clemron our only victory. Win anyway!

Please remember your Clemson friends and relatives during this time of the season . . . Buy them a crying towel before the game!

We need to whip them at their place similar to the '94 or '10 game.
