An Ohio lawmaker wants to make it a felony to plant a flag in the center of Ohio Stadium.

House Bill 700 would "prohibit planting a flagpole and flag in the center of the Ohio Stadium football field on the day of a college football game and to name this act the O.H.I.O. Sportsmanship Act.

@BobPSU92 will enjoy this.

Funny how the Sylvania lawmaker couldn’t be reached for comment.

Can’t make this sh@t up.

In addition to it being a felony to plant a flag on the O in Ohio Stadium it will also be a summary offense to refer to "The School Up North" by it's actual name in addition to not putting "The" in front of Ohio State University.

Summary offenses will be accompanied by a fine of $1,000 and all proceeds will go to The Ohio State NIL Collective.

I mean... you live in Ohio. If we're gonna go down the rabbit hole of your state's history of mindless legislation, we'll be here a long time.

Speaking as someone who mentioned earlier this year that CFB should ban the practice of flag planting, I agree that this is insane. State legislation doesn't need to intervene, but CFB making a rule is reasonable.

Is there a tolerance on "center" like +- 5 feet. As an engineer I'd figure it to be practically impossible to actually plant it on dead center.
I think they should have to hire a survey team to locate the exact center of the field, and mark that location with a medallion on the ground, similar to the what the United States Geological Survey does. Or, to make it more challenging, place a 3 foot conrete marker similar to the markers used to designate the border between the US and Canada, right there on the field.

Then, a circle with a 5 foot radius could be painted on the field, with skulls and cross bones painted within, to demarcate the "No Flag" zone.

Thanks for this. Having a crappy morning (the wife signed us up for a trip to Longwood Gardens and it’s pouring rain), this was perfect. Well done.

A Georgia lawmaker proposed sending Texas back to the Big 12. Priorities. He ended with ‘Mr. Speaker, GO DAWGS!, I yield my time back.’

Given that Georgia has beaten Texas twice, and has a bye until the quaterfinals; pushing Texas back to the Big 12 would make their path to the CFP pretty easy every single year, as well as taking all those Texas television viewers away from SEC games and negatively impacting the ratings and the potential financial windfall for SEC teams.

Another genius politician arguing against his best interests.

Sometimes lawmakers introduce bills just for fun with no expectation of it ever coming to a vote. This MIGHT be one of those times and is just a way to ease the pain of the multitude of brainwashed people in Ohio who think OSU is the beginning and end of college football.

But if he's serious, geez. He has no idea how to write a bill. It's laughably vague. And what about all those other schools in Ohio?? Eff them. You can plant all the flags you want in those places. Suck it Ohio U!! Suck it Cincinnati!! Suck it Toledo!! Etc, etc, etc.......

I mean, they've already made the entire playing surface one that can't have a flag planted into it...but that didn't seem to stop anyone from trying.

State "lawmakers" should have real jobs and meet twice a month. On weekends.
I'll add that their job title for the next 20 years should be state "law repealers/current law enforcers". We have more than enough laws.

Law Maker sounds pedestrian. Law Artisan. That’s it.
