Coach is #1. Until we do that, we are lighting money on fire. Every time we hear this whole schtick about "gotta get my players in here", it NEVER works out. Either you got it or you don't, and Lenny don't.It’s both. You have to have the right coach and be willing to spend. I don’t know if Lebby ends up being the right coach or not but I know for a fact he has no chance if we don’t even try to play the game.
In-state MS players are the least likely to transfer, so I think we should go all in on them for high school recruiting, unless the out-of-state kid has some type of tie to MSU. Also, go all in on strength and conditioning. Assure we never have holes at any position, even if we aren't the most talented. Then supplement with in-state JUCOs (since it's right here for our use) and the portal as necessary. Focus our revenue-sharing on our in-state guys that are already on the roster. In general in the portal, we should be looking at blue blood depth transfer guys and G5 guys - guys that care more about football than money. If we have the ability to go get a big-time QB, WR or DE out of the portal, let the boosters/NIL take care of that - it's private money anyway.I said this last signing day but this is why I give a rats *** about who we sign on signing day out of high school there is a high likelihood they are gone in a year so why do I care. Players these days have no more attachment to msu that is lasting. So why sign any freshman they will just sign with another school if they are any good. Take the coach prime approach and only get players with experience
If the AD would come up with a plan for football that we can implement year in year out, from coach to coach....then go get an experienced coach, then implement this system......we'd be a 6-6 to 8-4 level team without many hills and valleys. Then we can hope to bring in some players from time to time to help us make that playoff run. But the plan comes first, then consistency, THEN the shot at the top.
Ole Miss just proved you can't buy your way out of this shlt.
