Plus he almost certainly is promising these guys (Slovis, now Jurkovec) that he will not bench them, even if they struggle. It is hard to fathom that, because it is tantamount to throwing games. But we’ve seen it two straight seasons now. It seems that such promises are the only way he can get transfer QB to commit to us over other programs. That’s alarming unto itself, but at least it is an explanation; the only explanation possible, really

I don’t see the guy having a rat’s chance in hades in playing at the pro level but you can’t just throw that kind of thing out there; there are still many Neanderthals in the game who would blacklist somebody for that.

Yeah Penn State transfers to Pitt have that whole defect to Russia feel to it. A good kid like Christian runs off to "I'll Show You University" and is made to look ridiculous. Penn State ought to consider strategic relationships in portal transfers. For the old school mindset of using college football to make something of themselves, perhaps there is the academic channel to Duke and Wake Forest, and for the purely Deion lane, we ought to look at the U or UCF for purely self serving interests. If we could get that set up, then a future loss of a single coach, like say Seider, would be less devastating to recruiting. NIL and the Television Machine contracts are soon to sort out the top schools that will land the riches of recruiting that will lead to a higher rate of processing. Just a thought.
sorry for the confusion, basically, we need to turn the portal into two way streets to expand our footprint beyond the DMV. We need to do it now while the whole NIL-Conference realignment is still somewhat fluid. the NIL will re-equilibrate and broaden the top shelf who can then say, come here, give it your best shot for a natty and some reasonable bag, if not we have two options to get you back to mom in the south. The good news is that Coach Prime is going to be key at keeping NIL reasonable, if you listen to him talk about it- ignoring Deion right now is a fatal flaw. The final goal has to be with Penn State in the top tier of NIL, TV exposure and with structural inroads to the southern recruiting. Blue State football is going to go the way of lacrosse and soccer, so to completely avoid a NASCAR future for the game northern schools will need to think out of the box.
