It was 1 of 1 and a recruiting pitch, also. Telling a kid "you'll play in front of 20,000" doesn't hit the same as "you'll literally play in the largest basketball arena in the country."
We potentially could have had him and Wilson. Those are the differences between a legit contender and what we have now. It’s why we must get that JMI deal altered and he has to figure out how to recruit at this level. Imagine Pope with a legit top 5 roster. I could see him crushing it.
Not sure a recruit is not picking UK because 3,500 seats are gone. Much more likely hey we will give you X amount more than UK or we will guarantee you the minutes/shots.

It’s where they play their home games with a seating capacity of more than 35,000. They use it for more than basketball obviously.
Doesn’t matter. It’s not meant for basketball it’s meant for football. We’re talking about basketball arenas. If we want we can play at commonwealth and destroy their numbers, still isn’t a basketball arena.

The sell isn't "3,500" seats. The sell is "You will play in front of the largest crowd in all of basketball" Which is a much different thing than just playing in front of a big crowd. (outside the football stadiums obviously)
The world wide fanbase and exposure is what sets us apart from other tradition based programs.Our history is second to none but 14,16, and 18 year olds pay attention to top ten dunks on ESPN and What cars they wanna buy with that first million $$$.The AAU culture could care less about the fiddling five.

Morg, I don't think the 3K seats event matter. Rupp hasn't been the biggest since Thompson-Bowling Arena was built. If I remember correctly that was UT's goal, to seat more that Rupp. Trouble was, they could never sell it out.

I wish the NCAA would just disband that program completely. Constantly trying to find ways to be at the table with Alabama and Kentucky and since they can’t find a way they do stupid sht like this. Neyland is a dump, it’s a safety hazard and they’ve been told over and over. It’s going to kill people one day.
I still wouldn’t have removed the seats. I haven’t found many times I agree with anything that man does, he’s been a net negative for basketball and football. I still think other AD’s would have at least had Kentucky in a January bowl by now. Everyone else has.
