Really rolling today. If only we had hired that coach we would be dominating the Hawgs today with that potent offense. I mean 14 points sure beats 10.

I see you’ve gotten drunk early today.

Nobody wanted to keep Arnett except Peaches. Smart fans just didn’t want Lebby either.
Right right right. Tell me oh wise one who would you have hire that we could have gotten? Since you are so smart?

Any of a number of established, experienced head coaches from the G5. Malzahn, Cignetti, Fritz, Rodriguez, etc. Plenty others. We needed a sure thing and instead we hit the easy button.

I’ve only said this 47 times.

We desperately needed an experienced “high floor” head coach in the situation we were in. Instead we hired a rookie coach who has made a few glaring rookie mistakes.

We’d have gotten it had we hired Benko. Just inexplicable that Keenum hired Salmon.

Benko also would have been great for fund-raising.

We will probably figure it out 4-5 years from now, after a ton of suffering.

For an offense that hardly ever gives the ball away, Navy uncharacteristically had 6 turnovers today. Hadn’t had a turnover since the first game of the season.

Total yards- ND 455, Navy 320
First downs- ND 20, Navy 17

Not to mention- ND had the #7 & #10 recruiting classes the past two years. Navy’s was #150 & #133

Well they played against a college defense today. Lehigh and the Wharton School of Business teams don't field the same type of defensive players as Notre Dame. It makes a difference. Not only a completely different level of players but a completely different level of coaching expertise also.

Btw, Arkansas’s classes were #24 & #27. Ours was #30 & #33. Seems pretty par in terms of talent.

While I agree with yall on that. I don't think many coaches that are good like that want to step into our roster and after we just fired a guy for being terrible after a year. I would have loved cignetti however, if you were him or a lot of guys that have been successful head coaches, would our job attract you with the roster we had?

cignetti is doing well but like I said he might not come here
Fritz is terrible in the big 12 and hired our former terrible o coordinator
Liberty is 5-1 but rumor is chadwell didn't want to come here
UCF with Malzahn has been okay and I like Malzahn but they are 11th in the big 12 this year. And people have said his wife wasn't leaving Orlando for Starkville which I can understand.
Rodriguez maybe but I don't think he would have moved the needle much here.
Kinne has been so so this year not the phenom he was last year.

Lebby seems to be a good offensive coach. Did he make some bad moves and calls today with 4th down and goal line? Yes. Hopefully he learns from it.
Did I want Lebby to start with? No but I figured he was the best coordinator if we went that route.
did he make a terrible offseason call with not paying attention to defense? Yes and it may be his undoing.
I hope he makes big changes there this off season. If he doesn't, he's not going to make it. But I've liked seeing him coach up the guys on the sidelines and the offense doesn't stop fighting. Just need defense to show up period

Don’t disagree with much of that. And I do like the way he coaches the offensive players. He’s in teaching mode & not yelling at them much. But there are experienced coaches we could have hired. I wanted Clay Helton. Got done wrong at USC & has done a credible job at GA Southern. Not a huge ceiling. But the floor would be pretty high.

Having watched Helton teams at usc I don't think our fans would have liked him much either. Just like Herman argument last year. Also coached at a football money school that under performed to their standards. But he is only been soso as well. People didn't want Patrino either but he kicked out *** today. Now that's not hard to do with our defense.
we got Lebby at least next year so we better hope he fixes the defense there is a ton of promise on offense.
