See the link below. From the article:

“Maverick Carter, LeBron James' business manager, has been enlisted as an adviser by a group of investors seeking to raise $5 billion to form an international basketball league that would serve as a rival to the NBA, sources told ESPN, confirming a story first reported Thursday by Bloomberg.

The group -- which includes multiple private equity funds -- is looking to form a league consisting of six men's teams and six women's teams, playing games around the world, sources told ESPN.

Although Carter, who has served as a producer on more than one of James' TV and movie projects, is closely tied to the Los Angeles Lakers star, sources told ESPN that James is not involved in the efforts with this new league.”

That reminds me of when I was growing up. The neighbors down the road lived on a farm. Boys in the area would congregate in their barn for some awesome games if barnball. There were no rules other than getting the ball through the hoop counted as one point and you couldn’t hit anyone in the nuts. Traveling?? Tackling?? Shoving?? Pushing?? Tripping?? It was all good. You learned how to pass or shoot really fast. Good times!! I’d love to see a league like that.

Sounds like a LIV type of deal. If they actually guard people and make it like the NBA in the 70s and 80s I would watch some of it. If its the garbage now that you are not allowed to touch anyone, every game is a dunkathon then no thanks...

That was called "Big East Basketball" circa 1979-1990. Especially when Georgetown was playing.

Or the NBA when Laimbeer, Rodman, Oakley etc were playing.... You went to the rim you were going to get crushed. Or in the 70s with Artis Gilmore and Bob Lanier etc...

Ewing as well... Wes Unseld, Jeff Ruland back in those days it was truly no blood no foul. Why so many of them today look at LeBron and with the comparison to Jordan who was better those guy just laugh and say it's not close. Jordan was fearless for driving at the rim, whereas LeBron you can't hand check him or anything with today's rules.

Especially the year the Big East had a six-foul limit for fouling out. Can’t remember exactly when but I’m sure it was when Mourning was playing.

I used to play basketball on Tuesday nights in a former elementary school gym turned into an antique mall in Paint Lick, KY. The country boys liked to try to teach us city boys how basketball was played in the country. I loved it.

Will the best players play or will there be load management like the NBA? Complete Joke. Hard Pass.
