Pretty sure im the only Gamecock fan in Scotland or the UK as a whole lol.

Hi guys

I have started following College Football this season after 20 odd years of following the NFL. Had a business trip to Georgia and South Carolina earlier in the year and seeing how popular it is in the south sparked my interest in following the game.

It can be difficult though to root for a team having no emotional attachment to a particular University or area. Initially i was going to follow the Bulldogs, simply because when in Savannah they were the main team. But being honest, that barking thing they do is really annoying and i couldnt get behind them.

So after watching a few different teams games, SC Gamecocks is the team for me. I absolutely love the stadium and atmosphere. Sandstorm in particular in the night time games imo is the best spectacle in College football. When you watch it, it looks very similar to a lot of the European soccer teams fans and not as corney as some of the other college teams.

The team are also exciting to watch with the likes of Sellers, Sanders and Stewart looking very impressive, and i love an underdog story instead of following one of the favourite teams and becoming a bandwagon. Plus South Carolina was one of my favourite places i have ever visited.

You guys are very lucky to experience watching this team every couple of weeks. Hopefully one day in the future i can get over to a game and experience a night game in person.

Any recommendations for best people to follow on twitter or instagram to keep up with the news on Gamecocks football, and also somewhere i can buy some merchandise that ships to the UK would be great :)

Looking forward to the game on Saturday against Missouri!! Lets go Cocks!!

Welcome!
My mother's side is from Scotland.
I know how it is to follow from a distance as I am a fan of Everton FC.
Hope you can come see a game soon!

Welcome! Where in Scotland? I was born in southeastern England and still have lots of family over there. My Dad was born in Edinburgh and my grandmother was born in a small house just off the Royal Mile. I have relatives in Edinburgh, Livingston and Glasgow (England as well).

Very cool! I love it! My grandmother's folks were of Scottish origin. My great grandfather was a McLeod. You have already demonstrated great wisdom in choosing the Gamecocks over the Bulldogs. I lived and worked in Georgia for 13 years, and I can promise you that getting barked at in close proximity by an obnoxious Georgia fan is one of the weirdest and most irritating things that can happen. Among your first steps in embracing the Gamecocks, may I suggest learning to hate Clemson? It's not hard to do, believe me. Also, do you have any Gamecock gear? I'd be intrigued to know the comments you get when you wear it around town. Bet folks will be curious. Anyway, welcome!

Have you had the chance to attend a game at Williams-Brice yet?

Picking USC was a smart choice...no one can ever say you're a bandwagon fan only choosing the best team!

Its all about learning the history now. Loving all of the youtube videos on the official page. Watched one about George Rodgers last night.
I'd suggest checking out SFCocking on Youtube. This guy loves his Gamecocks and posts highlights with Todd Ellis and Tommy Moody, the Carolina radio broadcast team, calling the action. I'd recommend starting with his first playlist and watching them all chronologically. You'll get a great snippet of the last dozen years of Carolina football.

My family is also of Scottish descent on my father's side (which would be obvious from my surname). We spent about 6 days in Scotland in 2019, including several days on Skye. I wore my Gamecocks hat everywhere on that trip and was stopped several times by fellow Gamecocks fans (they were all either American tourists or there on business). Within the next few years, we want to go back to Scotland for a couple of weeks so we can explore it more thoroughly at a slower pace.

Welcome aboard. You must love having your heart ripped out every year. But USC is like a bad habit, can’t kick it. Next time you’re in the state during football season, message me. I’ll give you some tix and parking pass to attend your first night game at Willy B.

Welcome! I'd bet a ton of the members here have Scots-Irish ancestry. I do. Just returned from hiking in the Cairngorms and visiting Edinburgh. Your country's my favorite.

Be sure and let us all know when you're coming to a game here. We can give you tips on where to stay/tailgate/etc.

You might want to pay for access to The Insiders Forum here. Very little money for the super content - @Brian Shoemaker is the owner and he and his staff are on top of all things Gamecocks.

You're not the only Gamecock in the UK. My daughter is there in London right now as I type for her fall semester. She actually goes to Wofford but by virtue of me and my wife, her mom, we are big Gamecocks. My Dad graduated from USC, my older brothers, me, my wife, and most of my nephews.
However, you're most likely the only Gamecock in Scotland. ;)
Welcome aboard. Nice intro, btw.

What kind of business were you doing in the Savannah area? I work in Savannah but live just across the state line on the SC side

Isle of Skye is a beautiful area. Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah a lot of American tourists in the Highland and Islands in Scotland

Im a recruiter within the American Biogas sector. I was in Savannah attending the Biogas Americas conference. We stayed there for 4 nights and spent 1 in Hilton Head Island which is one of the best places i have ever visited.
