I certainly hope our new in-coming President is paying attention to our current Gamecock athletic programs!!!
Among other aspects of the school....I certainly hope our new in-coming President is paying attention to our current Gamecock athletic programs!!!
Probably more important fish to fry, but I understand your wishful thinking.Wouldn’t it be great if Amiridis came in and reassigned Ray on his first day in office. Then hired an experienced AD who knew how to run a$150 million athletic program. That act alone would give the new prez 5 years of good will.
And had the power to reassign the BOT people.Wouldn’t it be great if Amiridis came in and reassigned Ray on his first day in office. Then hired an experienced AD who knew how to run a$150 million athletic program. That act alone would give the new prez 5 years of good will.
Yes, that should be his focus. Didn’t the last guy do that?I certainly hope our new in-coming President is paying attention to our current Gamecock athletic programs!!!
Wishful thinking. He's not going to do that on the first day. Or even in the first year.Wouldn’t it be great if Amiridis came in and reassigned Ray on his first day in office. My "like" of your post is that I agree with your assessment, although I hope he doesn't wait a full year to address athletics.Wishful thinking. He's not going to do that on the first day. Or even in the first year.
"Greek Life" has always been big at Carolina!Maybe this guy with the Greek-sounding last name will be as good as the previous guy with a Greek-sounding last name. I thought he was very good.
The fact of the matter is that sports should be down this guy’s list. His primary focus should always be academics. The AD is supposed to focus on sports. The last guy who covered his shortcomings with public affection towards athletics hired the worst guy possible as AD. We don’t need another fanboy Prez. We need one who can smartly hire, but you’re dreaming if you think the new guy will fire Tanner. If it were to happen, it would germinate from our incompetent BOT.My "like" of your post is that I agree with your assessment, although I hope he doesn't wait a full year to address athletics.
Maybe take a first look at athletics 6 months in.The fact of the matter is that sports should be down this guy’s list. His primary focus should always be academics. And Sewanee recognized that early on, which is why they left in 1940. Not the same with Tulane & Georgia Tech.If there are any SEC schools that don't prioritize athletics - I'm not saying at the expense of academics - those schools should not be in this conference.
Exactly. If we feel the same way, the Sun Belt is taking applications. And Sewanee recognized that early on, which is why they left in 1940. Not the same with Tulane & Georgia Tech.

If that's true, it means that administrators have found a way to address both aspects.![]()
I get your point, but none of these schools is worth a damn in academics either. SEC is their academic and athletic superior
ACC was our spot if we wanted to be a little more serious about academics and a little less so about athletics. If that's true, it means that administrators have found a way to address both aspects.
Apparently in 1990 when the ACC & SEC were looking to expand and USC & FSU were the prime candidates, many assumed that FSU was the more prized of the two, and assumed that FSU would accept an SEC invitation, and we would go back to the ACC by default.ACC was our spot if we wanted to be a little more serious about academics and a little less so about athletics.
P5 membership means you're pretty damn good at both, so we should definitely be proud of that. We always want to improve but many professors/students/athletes would be thrilled to be get an offer from here compared to many other places.
I agree wholeheartedly....Personally, I would embrace having my biggest rival in the same league. Makes scheduling easier, and intensifies the rivalry and makes it more meaningful.
I remember how it (the rivalry) was. It was better.
It also means that beating your rival is intertwined in winning the league title (regardless of sport) as opposed to being a separate goal.I remember how it (the rivalry) was. It was better.
That was part of it. And it played out that way in our favor one time.It also means that beating your rival is intertwined in winning the league title (regardless of sport) as opposed to being a separate goal.
