it is a damn good idea for revenues too. they sell ads during the game which only lasts for so many hours. sell ads for pre-game too. instead of turning it off during our game, run ads on it with scores at the top.

i think it would separate our tailgait substantially from others if we did something like this.

You're slow to the punch. That's the way we are doing ours.

I assume you mean the grove seperates OM from others. Let me ask this question......how the hell do you see ads running on a board in the stadium when you can not see the stadium from the grove?

like i said i am slow. i was responding to omgrad saying they were doing theirs the way i suggested ours (turning it around to view in the junction). i have no idea about the grove and its set up with the stadium etc since i have only been there twice and both times i was drunk upon arrival and upon departure. i apologize for my lack of knowledge of the set up of campus for a school that i happen to have never attended.

You can't see the jumbotron from the Grove.

I think he means the side toward the Grove is for announcements.

99.9% of your fans can't see the North end of the stadium from where they tailgate and only see it when walking to the stadium from the Grove. One facing the junction would be visible to a lot more of our fans.

as theirs regardless of what Gene says. We are going to get a new one and it will be large but Ole Miss will be bigger but so what. The difference in size wont be noticeable to anyone just looking at it.

Everyone who attended the Liberty Bowl is aware of how annoying an adequate A/V system can be. With a jumbotron facing the junction, I foresee blaring ads ruining the junction experience. At the LB, you could barely speak to the person next to you when an ad came on.

...there was an American flag between me and it. Not THE American flag, just one of the dozens of others spread around for decoration. And because of it, I didn't see one damn replay the whole night.

Of course yours will be bigger.....though I seriously doubt it'll be in place next year, much less this year.

There is no way in hell MSU will put up a smaller screen than Ole Miss.....unless they want to toot the 'we have two' horn.

We expect it....that's just the way it is in electronics.

*Ours will be the 2nd largest in the NCAA behind Texas. My guess is Texas will be #2 within 2 years.

We'll see.

Exactly. That's part of the whole deal. I think ours will be 2nd in the country by only 100 square feet or so, which isn't all that noticeable when you get to that size. When you do yours, likely next year, it'll be slightly larger. To the untrained eye, they'll look exactly the same, but you'll get to claim having a larger one by a little bit. That's the way these things work.

And the next time LSU, Florida, Alabama, or another money school puts up a new jumbotron, it'll be a few square feet larger than Texas's.

Actually you both are wrong. Um will have the 2nd largest in the nation, but the UM will be Minnesota not Mississippi. and it will be a while before any college team surpasses Godzillatron at UT, people don't realize how huge that thing is..and how even pro teams dont compete in size except miami dolphins.

Everything I have heard is that its going to payoff that ours is going up later, and that ours will be quite a bit larger.

That just doesn't sound right. The question is, when yours goes up, how long will it stay up, and will it be able to get the job done? The good news is, if yours is larger, there are pills available on the internet that will increase the size of ours.

I said NCAA.

The Twins and the Vikings also play where the Gophers currently play.

have a ****** old jumbotron facing the junction so we can watch other football games while we get drunk. If you don't have a t.v. in your tailgate yet you are behind.

Im saying make the new one have a back and a front, with the front facing the field with audio and replays/adds. The other side being without sound during the game unless itd be showing our game, and with sound not during. Also, we could show highlights/scores and even other close games during halftime. It could also be blacked out during games that werent sold out. I think itd be a good idea in the future, but we dont have the money right now to do it right.

Actually, our JumboTron will be the second largest in the country. It won't stay that way for very long, probably only a year, but it'll be No. 2 for a year. I don't think Minnesota will have their new stadium up and running this fall.

has some rather Prominent Alumni in it for game days...

Surely there is nothing wrong with keeping the old jumbotron in place so these alumni might be able to see a replay. Its not like they will be able to LOOK THROUGH THE ROOF to see the replay on the new HD screen on top of the M-Club...

One, it came from Gene's page.

Two, if it's going to be the biggest in Mississippi, it'll be bigger than Ole Miss' new screen, right? Then why not just say it'll be the second-largest in the country? That sounds a hell of a lot better than saying it's the largest in the state. I mean, it'll be the only HD screen in the state regardless. Isn't that how advertising works? To me, that new screen would sound much more impressive if I knew it was second-largest in the U.S. Screw it being largest in the state.

I think it's fishy because the person on Gene's Page providing the "bits and pieces" couldn't even get his own facts straight. That, or whoever the source he got the information from was an idiot.

I didn't read the link, so forgive me if I'm wrong......but I don't think Minnesota will be in their new stadium until at least 2009.

Feel free to prove me wrong.
