we moved up from 8 votes in the AP to 13 votes. we dropped from 3 votes to 0 votes in the espn/coaches.

i understand the whole rider loss totally shouldn't have happened, etc. but we were ranked top 20 preseason, and we've played well the last month or so. richmond loss is bad but not destructive. we must have unimpressed whoever we impressed. i'd imagine that getting ranked in the ap would vault us into the coaches poll the next week, but who knows. i'm fine with not being ranked at this point; we need to beat someone good before that happens. 0 votes is a little surprising

old dominion has 4, we beat them, they beat charlotte by 33 (2 votes) and they beat georgetown. you'd have to think that our win against old dominion would make us a top 10 team at least

Is that maybe they are looking heavily at the RPI where we currently are around 48.

Florida who has 60 votes in the coaches and they lost back to back games at home to richmond and south alabama ... go figure how they are getting so many votes and we are not.

They beat Michigan State. That's my guess. They do have some bad losses, but they've got a big win, so I guess that's carrying enough weight still for some voters.

and they rarely mean anything valid. I mean, UNC is ranked 9th after dropping 3 games to the only 3 good teams they have played (aside from Michigan State, whom also has a pretty inflated ranking).

The reason that Florida is receiving that many votes is simply because of the two back to back national titles they won a few years back. You give us that record against those teams, and we're not even sniffing the top 25, let alone receiving 76 votes.

I don't consider Wright State that good. I can't stand being ranked this early in the year anyway.

Um, here are the current RPIs of the teams you listed: 145, 236, 137, 159. None of the wins you classify as "good" are even decent. Further, what the hell do future wins have to do with our current ranking, or lack thereof?

What about my post makes me a clown? Do tell.

You asked who the good teams we have played are and Richmond is the best team we've played, according to the RPI.

You seem to have changed your standard in this thread from "good wins" to "toughest opponents." There is a big difference and at this point we don't have any good wins; however, that could change next week with W. Kentucky, who is a Top 50 RPI team at the moment.

Congrats on getting the whole replying thing down. There is hope for you yet.
