Is it Coaching/Retaining Talent or just NIL Money? If it’s Coaching/Retaining Talent then we are in Trouble. Beamer and some of the Staff are great recruiters! However, let’s be honest, we lost at least 2 Winnable Games vs FL and Clemsux.
Now NIL, we can’t compete against the larger markets! South Carolina is now in the same breath as Vandy. Why would Premier Athletes come to USC to play their hearts out and not make a crappy Bowl Game?
We have all the opportunities to pluck players from the Portal but we get non-SEC Talent because Garnet and Trust can’t compete with the Established Football Schools who can pay more…ie Texas, GA, Bama…
But I guess all we want is to go to the Outback Bowl or Mayo Bowl every year.
With the schedule we have next year…5 wins at most and miss another Bowl game.
Blame what you want, but Tanner, The Coaching Staff and lack of NIL money is a reason! Im sick of waiting until “Next Year”!

Unless the lawyers at the NCAA can come up with a way to regulate NIL so that it's equitable for all schools, our ceiling will be an Outback/Mayo Bowl-type of program. I don't believe we can become national relevant under the current system. I believe we will have a good recruiting class coming in. However you have to wonder how many some of the better players will still be here in the 2026 season, leaving for greener pastures.

In my opinion, the best hope for the football program is that we have a coaching staff that can "outcoach" the other side. That's the only way. We will probably never be able to match up with half the SEC in terms of player talent. Beamer does not have that kind of ability or background. So, it's IMPERATIVE that he have coaches on staff that do. That's how Ole Miss does it. with Kiffin. I think that Missouri has that with Drinkwitz.

If anyone thinks I'm wrong, I'm willing to listen.

The problem I see is that we took some guys in Beamers first 2 classes that we probably shouldn’t have. I don’t see that issue occurring in the 23 class or 24 class. Thanks goodness we're able to replace Xavier Short with the best play maker from a pretty good Coastal team. AU was trying to get him in for a visit, as was Louisville.

Lloyd was a 5* out of HS. We replaced him with a D2 kid, and I think most would agree we didn't see much drop off, if any, in that move. But don't let facts get in the way, carry on.
I thought we honestly got negligible production out of Lloyd. When he transferred, people acted like George Rogers had left here.

You should be in politics, my friend! Haha
Nah, those guys are over on the TOS. “We’re in shambles!! If all of you would just skip that Starbucks every morning and give it to NIL it would solve all of our problems!! Won’t you do it? Won’t you give just $3 a day? Our program is at stake!” 😂

And where am I ignoring the facts, which you accused me of in your 8:46 am post, Dabo? There's no way for me to know the actual quality of the individual players that all the teams lost. The ONLY metric are the actual numbers that the OP provided.. Look, you are a good fan and poster. We have been identical in our support of Lamont Paris. I was taken a little aback and disappointed by what I felt was a needless shot by your comment "But don't let facts get in the way, carry on".

I do agree with your last sentence in the first paragraph above regarding the much more talented classes leading to fewer players leaving. Let's hope that is the case.
The facts you seem to ignore is that some of our best performers that have contributed to Beamer’s success here have came from lower divisions. Juice, Mario, Debo Williams, Jalen Brooks, Nate Adkins, Nick G. You lament replacing players with lower level players. It’s a fact that a D2 player outgained the former 5* player he replaced. It’s a fact that Nate Adkins took Stogner’s PT. It’s a fact that Juice was better than Vann, who was an All SEC WR the year before. Dismissing bc they had a different starting point is wrong. Sorry that disappointed you, but that just rubs me the wrong way.

Glad we can agree on Paris though. He’s a good one!!

How many lower level players didn't produce better though?

I get the excitement of a new player, and the hopes that everyone else just missed on the diamond in the rough.

But even you have to admit it's a daunting task to compete in the SEC with a pipeline to lower level teams. ( I dare say we've been exaggerating about the SEC if it's not.)

If it's the best we can do, that's one thing. But it's hardly the preferred path.

Yes, there are going to be lower level players who produce. Some will produce better than more highly recruited players. Lowe level FBS teams like Appalachian State occasionally beat the Michigans of the world. That happens. But if Beamer is going to try to make a living on a boatload of low tier recruited players to beat the Georgias, Tennessees , Floridas. Texas. Bamas of the world, this program will be spinning wheels. Your opinion did not disappoint me. You misunderstand what I was referring to. I understand your opinion but I don't believe such direction is sustainable for the program in the long run. What disappointed me was your attitude. You can make your point civilly without being a jerk about it. You are better than that, I believe. I'm not going to dwell on that. That's all I will say about it. Just made an observation and making a friendly suggestion to you.
