She needs to hit a hot streak and we will be right back in itFulwiley is a turnover machine.
TrueIn 3 halves of play so far, UConn has been dominant team. Gamecocks need to dominate a half and none of that matters.
Going to be tough to do.
If you can’t tell the difference in calls you’re crazy - that last Beuckers shot is a prime example. Minimal if any contact and there’s a foul - PaoPao drives gets thrown to the ground and nothing - if you don’t think they want to get Beackers a championship you’re crazy - too obviousRun and gun vs calculated offense. We struggle against teams with equal or better talent and coaching.
This has nothing to do the refs. They gave their big girl 4 fouls on touch fouls. We were 2-9 on layup in the first half. Yea, that's on the refs.If you can’t tell the difference in calls you’re crazy - that last Beuckers shot is a prime example. We have missed too many lay up’s but hey - if you don’t get called for the fouls - keep doing it - D-1 players don’t miss that many lay ups without getting fouled and now the girls are just throwing up prayers. But again no foul on our end but they call on over the back on UCons endGetting blown out in the National Championship is just........... if I wasn't used to it from the Gamecocks, I'd be shocked.
Watkins? You are kidding, right? We lose and now she was a starter?Congrats to UConn - they did beat us however we weee without arguably our best returning starter about all year - same situation UConn was in last year so yep - they got us this year
Cry me a river! We got our asses handed to us.This game changed midway through the 2nd quarter when UConn had a 3 point lead and we had consecutive baskets wiped out on BS offensive fouls. They made sure we didn’t get any closer than that - no calls on under the basket shots was the didifference.
The entire country found this out several years back.Dawn just found out white girls can play basketball too!
Yep. Gonna be quiet on here all summer. The Ladies team collapsed.
On to FOOTBALL season!![]()
What an insult to mention Edwards in a negative way! Dawn recruited Strong…she chose UConn.Epic beat down. Time to clean house, starting with Fulwiley; she’s a head case. Edwards is no Strong. Hit the portal Dawn because your recruiting is slipping. Too much “culture” and not enough focus. The UCONN girls were focused!
100% agree. That said, i thought we had an awful game plan. Predictable, but awful.Culture???? What are we talking about? Winning, especially winning it all, is hard. We have been to the Final Four 5 Years in a row. Got 2 Championships in that run and Dawn lost for the 1st time in 4 tries in the National Chapuonship. It was UConn's year this time. They have battled injuries over the past 3 years and they finally put it all together. As great as their program is, this is their first title in 9 years. Finally for the record, we gotta stop questioning the coaching on every loss. We had plenty chances to finish shots around the rim to keep us in the game. Sometimes the other teams players outperform yours.
Oh geez dude - they made it to the NC Game and lost - give it a breakEpic beat down. Time to clean house, starting with Fulwiley; she’s a head case. Edwards is no Strong. Hit the portal Dawn because your recruiting is slipping. Too much “culture” and not enough focus. The UCONN girls were focused!
I think the issue is more skill development than in game strategy. We have to get better finishing around the basket. Our guards didn't shoot nearly as well as well as in 24. We don't have the movement shooters to run a lot of curls and split action that UConn does. Tessa has the potential to be that type of player, but I thought she took a small step back this year. Pao-Pao is more of a stand-still , catch and shoot player. The inside-out, swing the ball type of offense we run works for her, but even she took a step back in her efficiency. 2024 was our year. Everything we did turned to gold. This year we had some adversity and still played in the last game of the year. We took it on the chin. Bigs need to get in the weight room and work tirelessly on post finishes. Guards need 1000 shots a day..100% agree. That said, i thought we had an awful game plan. Predictable, but awful.
Run and gun, out-athleticing them didn't work the first time, yet we took the same approach this time. Very possible that an alternate plan would not have worked but some noticeable adjustments would have been nice.
I'm all for playing through runs during the regular season, but Dawn had several chances to stop the momentum today with timeouts. She chose to let them play. A bit baffling.
Tessa is one of my favorites. I think she is underutilized (possibly underperformed this year). I like what Tessa has to offer when on the court. Controlled aggression. She shows some leadership that some of the other guards don't offer.I think the issue is more skill development than in game strategy. We have to get better finishing around the basket.
