O/T - the Chicago White Sox are on track for the worst record in MLB history

they're 36-117 right now and must win 7 of their final 9 games to avoid having the worst losing record ever (set by the Mets in '62).

It seems statistically improbable that a team could only win 24% of their games. You'd think any random collection of professional baseball players could luck their way to at least 30%.

Well, moneyball teams have made it into the playoffs and that Red Sox team that won the World Series a few years back was built using those principles. Tampa Bay has twice been to the World Series. Point is, some teams that have spent at the low end have gone far. Evidently, the wrong people are spending whatever money the White Sox have.

I honestly feel like you have to try to lose 75% of your games in baseball.
