I love the 3 names thrown out in a recent GC article. Please do your homework and see what you like. You don't have to be a coach....but just know all 3 of these guys mentioned are legit, exciting prospects that we would do very well to get.
Kendal Briles- Veer and Shoot
Garret Riley - Air Raid/Power Raid
Willy Korn - Spread Option
*all these offenses have a 'tempo' component that is used as needed.
Don't think in 1970s-80s terms about veer or option. These offenses incorporate a lot of the stuff you saw in Mahlzahns, Urban Meyer (at UF), Dan Mullen and some other prominent Off. coaches that have been "borrowed" from across the nation. These offenses have sent teams that weren't close to top 5 overall and even Nat. Championship statuses. Very exciting names being mentioned when combined with what SC currently has going on. Kiffin at Ole Miss has some veer/shoot AND Air /Power Raid stuff he leans on all the time.
Air Raid/Power Raid....think Tennessee, Southern Cal, UNC, Miss. State and Ole Miss (some)....so it's still viable and gives people problems obviously.
Sky is the limit...I hope our Admin. doesn't screw this up because we are on the precipice of something big if they hit the mark with the correct coach.
